DH's parents are from Pakistan and also speak Arabic, I'm white British. We're after a name that will work with both sides of the family, and have tonnes of potential girls' options, but boys a trickier!

Current top pics are below, but there's nothing I truly love. Let me know what you think, and anything with a similar vibe?

Adam, Aiden and Danny have already been nicked by siblings in the same boat, unfortunately.

Zachariah / zaki
Samir
Laith
Raif
Raphael/ Rafi
Benyamin
Tahir

I love Laith. I think it has a lovely sound and looks appealing written down. I also really like Samir nn Sammy

Raif is lovely too but I do prefer Laith. I actually asked DH about using Laith but decided it would be culturally inappropriate as we are both white British

Suggestions:

Nabeel
Ibrahim
Ismail
Ali
Sachin
Zaid

Jad.

A very old and traditional Arabic name but one that’s rarely used.

I think in the whole of the country where I live there are only 7 people with the name.

Ayden and Zaki work well - I know children of the same ethnicity with these names. Also I know a little boy called Hari.
How about Yusef or Kyan?

I love the name Eesa

username1724 · 02/07/2019 23:50

We have the same situation, our son is called is Esa (lots of spelling variants - Eesa/Isa/Eisa) and I just adore it, so far no issues with people understanding. I feel your pain though as this was the only single name we agreed on!

babba2014 · 03/07/2019 00:01

I would stick to Arabic

I've known people in your situation and these names have been easy

Isa/Easa
Zakariyya
Danyaal
Benyamin
Zaid

Friend of mine with Arabic speaking extended family has a little boy called Bassam. His English speaking friends call him Bas. I’ve always thought it was cute and really unusual

Malik

badtime · 03/07/2019 07:12

Idris

ContessaLovesTheSunshine · 03/07/2019 08:36

I'd be wary with Benyamin - it is viewed by a fair number of Muslims (at least, by my family and everyone in their social circle in their country) as being a Jewish name. That may cause you problems, maybe not!

FartnissEverbeans · 03/07/2019 15:56

Firas
