Coby OR Archie?

Middle names Thomas Arthur (family names)

How popular is Archie after MM named her son it? 🤔

Can't have Archie and Arthur in the same name. So on that basis it'll have to be Coby, although I feel like that name has negative class connotations (sorry mumsnet, I know you hate mention of class) / American name.

diddlediddle · 30/06/2019 21:00

Arthur Thomas Surname - nn Artie would be lovely however

Sophronia · 01/07/2019 00:16

Archie

I like pp suggestion of Arthur/Artie Thomas. Then you get a similar sound.

FannyFeatures · 01/07/2019 00:30

As a Scottish person I beg you not use Jobey if you ever speak to/visit or have connections with Scotland. Jobey/Jobby depending on the region is slang for a shit!

Archie and Arthur are too much in one name and Archie has been overused for quite a while.

Coby is slightly better but the b sounds clunky, I prefer Corey or Cody personally.

mrvsmrs · 01/07/2019 07:01

@FannyFeatures Jobey sound's made up to me anyway iv never heard it before!

Thank you all so much for all of your suggestions and thank you for all being kind and expressing your opinions without being horrible shitty people 😁😁😁

He still has no name though... so ill keep looking on google 😙

I know two Jobeys. Never heard them be called Jobbie.

FannyFeatures · 01/07/2019 09:17

I didn't mean that they would get called Jobbie Mike, just that if there's any connection to Scotland then Jobey is also used in dialect for shit as is Jobbie.

teenmum18 · 01/07/2019 09:53

I know a joby but it's pronounced joe-bee I don't know how that sounds like jobby 🤷🏻‍♀️

Divgirl2 · 01/07/2019 10:23

@teenmum18 it's an accent/dialect thing but very broad ie. A lot of the borders, a lot of the islands, pretty much the entire east coast, Glasgow, Fife... In my (Scottish but barely) accent Joby sounds fine, in just about every other Scottish accent jobby and Joby sound exactly the same (also coke and cock - it's the o)

SnowdropFox · 01/07/2019 12:44

I'm Scottish and Joe-bee is still very much poo along with jyo-bee. So Joby is very much out for anyone up here!
