Hi All

I'm due mid Jan 2020 and my DP and I are thinking of potential names.

We have come up with these two so far, we aren't sure of the sex yet.

Boy - Georgie

Girl - Kaylee / Caylee / Kayleigh
This name represents the joining of our names

I love Thea, so would potentially be using it as a second name should we receive a girl, my DP doesn't like it enough for a first unfortunately.

Your thoughts on these would be much appreciated, as will your preference on the spelling.

TIA

Making up your own name is particularly dreadful - I wouldn’t want to be applying for jobs where I needed to be taken seriously with a name like that.

Thea is lovely
Ciara is a nicer version of the sort of sound you like

Kayleigh is horrible. Why not Katie or Ciara or Cara?

George is nice, Georgie is a nickname for Georgia/Georgina/Georgetta.

I'm not keen on the name Kayleigh. But if I were to choose it I would definitely spell it as above and not Caylee etc.

I'm afraid I'm also not keen on the idea of you and DP combining both of your names to make her name. In which case you'd be known as Kay, Lee and Kayleigh.....?

I much prefer the name Thea for a girl.

Thanks for your input everyone. Went for my 12 week scan today. It seems it's more than likely a girl Grin. Didn't realize Kayleigh was such a controversial name.

My name is my mother's name backwards, so never thought it as narcissistic. Our names are not obvious as a combination if that makes sense, only a couple of letters each to make up Kayleigh.

We spoke about other possibilities and came up with Megan Rose.

We also asked our parents what names they'd use, the answers were very interesting and also showed their ages somewhat 😂.

These were their choices :

Millicent Jane
Sarah Jane
Chantelle
Jason
Tanner
Sarah
Kate
Emma
Paul
Sean

Georgie to me sounds like a girls name, if I heard it I was assume girl but I'll probably get moaned at for that and not kean on the girls name either, possibly the last spelling but I'm not sure if having your names split to create a child's name is something I'd do personally. Is there no way you could use that as a middle name instead?

Megan is a lovely name. I also really like Thea. Or Georgia/Georgina if you want Georgie as a nickname for her.
