Phoebe is the only one I like too

All of these names (aside from Beatrice) are our choice for our little girl due in two weeks! I think we are erring towards Matilda or phoebe!

Sorry OP but the sheep and the shearing are my own reality but the song takes the romance out of the name for me. Look you asked for opinions, don't get huffy.

I absolutely love Matilda. Beatrice isn't bad but I prefer Beatrix.

Beatrix is a bit more trendy I think. I think it will date. There are a lot of Trixie-May, Trixie-Rose type names about.

The sheep shearing thing had me very too tbh. Assuming the op is in the UK, I think the people who the op's DD will meet, who instantly think of sheep, will be very few and far between. The reason I've gone off the name is because it's very commonly used in the UK now. So I seriously doubt the sheep thing will be an issue for the op's DD. Any Australian living in the UK will be well used to the name soon enough!

Very nearly named DD1 Phoebe but went for Ivy in the end. It's a gorgeous name! Not keen on Eliza / Matilda / Beatrice (but Bea is ok)

Not sure I’d say 80s...I don’t know anyone from that decade with any of those names. Think most of them would have last been popular some time before that

You wonder. I was a child in the eighties and I can't remember ever meeting a child called Matilda, Eliza or Beatrice. Not a single one.

I did vaguely know a Phoebe. Just the one.
