I can't decide which one I like more! Advice please Smile

Daisy by far. Maisy is just too twee.

BlueMerchant · 26/06/2019 16:31

Probably Maisy. Ok for a child.
I personally don't think they suit many grown women.

Maybe as nicknames, but as full proper names? For grown women? Not so good.

If I had to make a choice then I’d pick Daisy.

Fullmoons · 26/06/2019 16:52

How about Margherita?

AverageMummy · 26/06/2019 16:54

I don’t think Maisie sounds twee it reminds me more of someone with unemployed parents or a very young mum (not bad just don’t sound twee to my ears).
I don’t really like nor dislike Maisie - I really am not sure.
Daisy I really love but I had a school friend at secondary school he was really lovely & glam.

@WouldHAVEcouldHAVEshouldHAVE is an amazing username - took me bloody ages just to find something that wasn’t taken. I nearly went with Thomas The Drunk Engine but decided I’d sound like a pervy old man in it for the mums Grin

The increasing use of ‘of’ has lead me to take a stand and I hope the more threads I comment on the more people will see my username and take note.
Unite ‘have’ people, we can win this.

macymoos · 26/06/2019 18:06

What do people mean by twee? As I know it to mean something different to what I think some people on here do Confused

MikeUniformMike · 26/06/2019 18:10

twee
/twiː/
adjectiveBRITISH
excessively or affectedly quaint, pretty, or sentimental.
"although the film's a bit twee, it's watchable"
synonyms: quaint, sweet, bijou, dainty, pretty, pretty-pretty; More

Valuationhelp · 26/06/2019 18:11

Maisy

Marv1nGay3 · 26/06/2019 18:13

I have a Maisie so obviously biased! It’s short for Margaret. I am not unemployed or young, by the way! Daisy is pretty too.

margotsims · 26/06/2019 18:16

Jesus some people are so rude on here a bit unnecessarily so in some cases. Daisy is a really popular name and Maisy isn't a horrible name either.

BubblesBuddy · 26/06/2019 18:16

Friend has a pair of dogs called Daisy and Maisie so not a huge fan for DC. You can call cows and human beings anything you want (as these threads often demonstrate).

carmenbea · 26/06/2019 18:20

I like Daisy best.
FYI I know dogs called Milly, Luna, Bonnie, Molly, Betsy, Lacey, Stella and Willow which have been on a tonne of baby lists on MN as potential baby names. Really don't see the big deal...

MikeUniformMike · 26/06/2019 18:33

@Fatkins, you should of.

puppylovebaby · 26/06/2019 23:03

Maisie not Maisy

Cassandrainthenight · 26/06/2019 23:32

There's zillions of both round me, colleges and schools are packed with them, though more Daisies I'd say because I guess it's slightly prettier name.
Your child is likely to be forever called Daisy+surname or first letter of the surname, to differentiate from other Daisies/Maisies/Millies/Evies.
Your daughter might accuse you of a lack of imagination, Daisy Millie etc would be very dating, Cla(i)res and Louises of their time.
Actually if you consider a new and fresh but not too exotic name for her, then Clare or Louise or Helen would be perfect ;)

MintyCedric · 26/06/2019 23:34

My 20yo niece is a Daisy.

She's about as far from twee as it's possible to get!

Bluerussian · 26/06/2019 23:49

I prefer Daisy but if I had a little girl, I think I'd name her 'Marguerite' and call her Daisy.

InsertFunnyUsername · 26/06/2019 23:56

No help but both pretty names 🙂

Poppins2016 · 26/06/2019 23:59

Daisy.

Maisie seems a bit twee.

AverageMummy · 27/06/2019 00:56

I’m confused by how Maisie can be twee & Daisy not? They’re practically the same sound.... or is it more associations?

My comment about young mum etc was not designed to be a cover for the dreaded c word - I meant it doesn’t sound ‘twee’ to my ears (or I guess my version of it) more a street wise / fast rising trend type name.

Kokeshi123 · 27/06/2019 01:11

Not mad on either, but Daisy is more classic. I don't like the "measly" sound of Maisie.
