Charlotte, Pippa or Rose?

Hi all,

My name choice keeps changing but have decided I want something relatively classic and that wouldn’t result in teasing due to our surname which is enough to tease about!!

These 3 are my favourites and now leaning towards pippa as I dislike the nn Charlie and my husband doesn’t like Rose (or Rosa/Rosalie).

Any thoughts? X

I'd choose Charlotte Rose with the diminutive Lottie.

I'd think very carefully about Pippa as it really doesn't travel well. It means very rude things in different European languages, apparently Shock

Philippa? I believe that's what Pippa was originally the diminutive for so you could still call her that while giving her a more universally accepted first name.

Sophronia · 23/06/2019 15:48

I like Rose the best, but maybe Pippa would be a better choice if your husband doesn’t like Rose and you don’t like Charlie. I prefer Pippa short for Philippa though.

Not Pippa !! It means 'blowjob' in several languages, apparently.

Charlotte and Rose are both lovely but I prefer Rose. Although surely if you don't like Charlie and your husband doesn't like Rose, you can't really use either?

Charlotte

I am a Charlotte and I have never been called Charlie. My parents didn't like Charlie either so never used it and my childhood nickname has stuck through to adulthood.

Thanks everyone! Very useful tips re Pippa too!
I will see if I can persuade my husband re Rose! X

What about Rosetta? I love it, husband doesn't though

Shadow1234 · 24/06/2019 01:29

Charlotte with nn Lottie
Rosa is also nice

TrixieFranklin · 24/06/2019 02:28

Rosanna, Rosemary, Rosa are all great 'Rose' names!

Tavannach · 24/06/2019 02:30

Rosa

HPLikecraft · 25/06/2019 00:07

Rose is a great name.
I’m less keen on the others.

CoffeeRunner · 25/06/2019 00:26

Definitely not Pippa. Quite apart from the meaning in other languages, it has a very harsh sound to me.

Charlotte & Rose are both nice. If not a bit dull.

Charlotte, nn Lottie
