Which month names do you think are unacceptable to use as names?

I know these are in common use:
April
May
June
August

But what about the others?

I knew a girl called November. It suited her.

@StCharlotte Lady January Lemon is so fabulous!

I've seen suggestion elsewhere that January is more of a boys name but I don't think so.

October Jones is a cool name too. And I also like Wednesday. And March for a boy.

August isn't exactly in common use, though it is a name BUT it is not the month. It's pronounced differently with the emphasis on the second syllable: Au -GUST not AUGust.

StCharlotte · 21/06/2019 11:38

Oh no, surely January is a girl's name?

Wouldn't Augusta be the female version of August? Can't bear any versions though as it sounds so bumptious and it's quite an ugly sounding word I think. But that's probably down to the influence of August Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

March could work for a boy maybe.

InterchangeableEmma · 21/06/2019 13:00

I don't like March as a name at all, there's no way of telling that it's supposed to be a month name rather than than the normal usage of the verb.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 21/06/2019 13:09

My grandfathers middle name was March. I’m not sure about it as a first name though.
I know an October (female) one of the coolest people I know.

bridgetreilly · 21/06/2019 14:30

StCharlotte, it's Augustus Gloop, not August. August as a person's name is really rare in English-speaking countries. More common in Germanic languages, I think.

Orangecake123 · 21/06/2019 16:21

I've seen a September in a school newsletter.

Perditavita · 21/06/2019 18:40

I actually like all the months except July and August
I don’t like any enough to use as a first name but middle names, I wouldn’t discount any of the months I do like

beansonbread · 21/06/2019 18:48

I've known women called April, May, June and November as well as Summer, Autumn and Winter. They all really suited their names.

Bezalelle · 21/06/2019 18:56

I know an October.

EmrysAtticus · 21/06/2019 21:29

I used to work with an October and it really grew on me.

MotherofaCat · 22/06/2019 00:57

My niece is April.. born in February lol I've never really liked using months as a name but I do love Autumn!

DickZillaofTheVilla · 22/06/2019 01:14

October with the nickname Toby is the kick ass heroine in a great series of books

diddlediddle · 22/06/2019 08:06

Is it better or worse to be named after a month that you weren't born in? I've always thought it a bit naff to be named after the month you're born in. If the month name is not the month you're born in it's more of an actual name rather than a description?

April, May and June are the only ones I’ve met in person.

I’ve heard August and January being used, I don’t like either of those though.

DickZillaofTheVilla · 23/06/2019 17:14

I like these month names but think it’s cheesy to be named after the month you were born in.

Flobeee · 24/06/2019 18:59

I know a woman called March and it really suits her. She went by Marchie as a child. I really like it but maybe that’s just because I think of her automatically.
