I really like the name Tess or tessa but DH says it’s incomplete. We don’t like Theresa is there anything else I could suggest with a NN of Tess? I’m drawing a blank

I adore Tess or Tessa. No idea of a longer version though. It was on the lost for both my babies though, just as tessa.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 15/06/2019 22:56

I love Tess as is. Theresa or Therese are the only longer versions I would associate with the name.

TatianaLarina · 15/06/2019 23:01

I don’t see how Tessa is incomplete?

AryaNoOne · 15/06/2019 23:07

None of these are as obvious as Theresa / Therese but how about: Contessa, Tamsin, Thomasina, Esther, Hester.

missyB1 · 15/06/2019 23:10

Tessa is a name in its own right. Tessie is also lovely and very cute!

AverageMummy · 15/06/2019 23:25

You could go for something combined with the middle I.e
Thea Clarissa
Thalia Frances
Etc etc

Possible full names:
Beatrice
Telsa
Talise
Natasha
Thalassa
Thomasina
Anastasia
Temperance
Tristina

I think Tess is lovely all by itself. I don't get the insistence on a more formal name that will most likely never be used. I know people go on about 'options' but I think that's only necessary if you're going for quite a twee name like Trixie for example.

Big no to Theresa, very religious or very Tory. Neither ideal.

Esther is a good suggestio if you're determined to find a longer name

AshQ · 16/06/2019 00:11

I love Tess and think it’s fine as a full name.

Shadow1234 · 16/06/2019 00:25

Tessa is a lovely name, no need to have a longer version.

UnderTheTree · 16/06/2019 00:46

Really nice name! And perfectly fine name on its own.

I am not in the UK an actually know a few Tessas.

Theresa is awful.

Whoops75 · 16/06/2019 00:48

Absolutely fine as Tess or Tessa

I prefer Tess but only slightly

Astronica · 16/06/2019 02:28

Tessa is a complete name! I like Tess/Tessa as a short form for Anastasia, Temperence, Tuppence, Thomasin, Artemis, Tessaly/Thessaly.

cstaff · 16/06/2019 02:34

I would always christen my children what I want to call them e.g. Sam and not Samuel. It makes no sense. Tess or Tessa are perfect names in their own right. Your husband is talking b.s.

Icklepup · 16/06/2019 12:50

I love Tess and it's not incomplete I think it's fine

sometimesalways · 16/06/2019 12:51

I love Tessa! How about Anastasia? With Tessa as NN

MikeUniformMike · 16/06/2019 19:08

Tess and Tessa are both fine.

Yellowpolkadot · 16/06/2019 21:44

Thanks, I'll just tell him we will have to go with Tessa to give the option of Tess 😂
