Moody Arses

This is (genuinely) not directed at any one in particular or related to any specific post.... but I am a little confused - why do people post in here asking for views on names if they will then be upset or think it’s rude when people give their honest thoughts about those names? I agree it would be rude if unsolicited - but you can’t end up here by mistake surely? I’m totally baffled by it.

I think Moody Arses wouid be a splendid name for the DC of a MNetter!

ReganSomerset · 12/06/2019 21:46

Moody isn't too bad, if Harry-Potteresque, but I think Arses might be pushing it somewhat. Are you even allowed to use profanity in a name?

WittyFool · 12/06/2019 21:46

@AuntieStella Grin

Maybe you need Arsene on the BC, then ReganSomerset and keep Arses for family use?

ReganSomerset · 12/06/2019 22:16

That could be the way forward, Stella. 🤔

WittyFool · 12/06/2019 22:18

Arsenic with Arsey for day to day use Grin

Moody Arses as a name combination is no more way out than some suggestions I have seen.

RoseAndRose · 13/06/2019 08:15

It's a considerably more realistic name than Grace, Hope, Joy, Patience, Clement etc

SundayMorningSun · 13/06/2019 08:37

Meh, I think people are a bit unreasonable if they over-react to people saying they don't like a name. (I love that people want an unusual or "unique" name but also want 100% of people to love it! Not possible.)

But I do get that the somewhat racist or classist comments can become wearing. E.g. "Blessing isn't a name", "All Irish names look like gibberish", "Hyphenated names will mean your child is looked down on for life," etc etc.

The usual justification is that those are the things that people in real life will be thinking behind your back - which I get. But still no fun to hear them.

It's lovely, but only as long as Arses is a middle name. Moody-Arses with a hyphen is a bit low-rent.

maimainomai · 13/06/2019 09:41

Moody arse is a great name for a stroppy teen!

I unfortunately did that. Someone mentioned that the name was try hard and I interpreted as a personal insult zu instead of a comment about the name.Blush

MikeUniformMike · 13/06/2019 15:22

At least it's not a stripper's name. AFAIK.

Newyearsameoldshit · 13/06/2019 17:56

Hyphenated or not? Does it flow with your surname?

But yes, if you ask the internet for advice you better brace yourself! I only want to hear people say 'oh yes that's lovely' so I've never posted about my daughters names!

MikeUniformMike · 13/06/2019 19:16

I think you should use a more classic version for the BC, in case DC becomes a High Court judge.
Moodelimus Arsene or Moodeliana Arsenella perhaps?
I wouldn't double-barrel as the second name isn't Jay or Mae.
