Can I call my potential daughter Rosa.... if her surname is Parker?

WDYT?

Yes it’s not a negative association quite the opposite. Stunning name.

ThePhoenixRises · 10/06/2019 09:42

Lovely name

Divgirl2 · 10/06/2019 09:47

You can, but those are big boots to fill. And in the future if she's trying to establish herself in any kind of business she'll never be the first hit on Google.

Penny4Thoughts · 10/06/2019 09:50

@Divgirl2 I just did a search and got lots of random Facebook and LinkedIn for people with that name. Also a memorable name in business is an advantage (assuming 1: she runs a business 2: uses her own name)

Bluerussian · 10/06/2019 09:56

Lovely name, maybe a bit much having the 'er' sound at the end of both names.

EssentialHummus · 10/06/2019 10:05

I wouldn't. I also don't like the (entirely hypothetical) idea that she'll have Rosie as a NN and then be Rosie Parker. It's a lovely name, but not with your surname imo.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 10/06/2019 11:13

Too much 'er'

There should be a balance. So Rose Parker. Rosa Parker doesn't flow right and I can see the possibility of "Rosa Parker the Nosy Parker". Sorry to be shitty.

But another derivative of Rosa -

Rosalie Parker
RosaMay Parker
Rosaline Parker
Rosia Parker
Rosalyn Parker

Would work well

macbooknotpro · 10/06/2019 11:26

Thank you all for your feedback! Rosa is on the "shortlist" so I have a couple of others to consider too... none of which have an '"er" sound. I do think it's a pretty name though, so may consider it as a middle name instead.

Yes, I immediately thought Rosie Parker, which would be a little unfortunate!

Rosa is lovely, though.

MollyHuaCha · 10/06/2019 13:34

Rosa is lovely. IMO it doesn't go well with Parker though.

How about Rosemary, Rosemarie, Rosanna?

RuthW · 10/06/2019 18:01

No you can't really. Rosa Parker = Nosy Parker.

Shame. I love Rosa.

Percypenny · 10/06/2019 18:29

In the West Country she’d be Rroserrr Parrkerrr

Fulltimemummy85 · 10/06/2019 18:43

I have a Rosie and we call her Rose as a nn, I am not sure Rosa would be called Rosie.
