Please dont be too harsh!

We have Scandinavian roots, surname, and scandi named dc1

If dc2 is a girl ... Ebba? Too weird? Like Emma but not?

I'm sorry, but I don't like it. It sounds like a noise rather than a name. I don't think it's attractive at all.

TheLetterOfTheLawTheLetter · 08/06/2019 21:09

My concern, thank you!Smile

I love Scandinavia names and I really like Ebba. I'd worry that people in the uk (if you are in the uk) would think you're just saying Emma and you've got a cold though.

SassyBadger · 08/06/2019 21:44

Agree that it sounds like Emma being said by a nasally congested person. What about Malin? Always thought that was a lovely name.

Walkamileinmyshoesbeforeujudge · 08/06/2019 21:45

Emma with a blocked nose?

SassyBadger · 08/06/2019 21:48

Or Hedda? Similar cadence to Ebba.

Susannach · 08/06/2019 21:48

I like it but only because I know a lovely one. Objectively it really does sound like Emma with a cold, and would likely be frequently misheard as such.

How about Alba/Alma, Saga, Svea, Inga, Ida, Tove?

BlueMerchant · 08/06/2019 21:51

Really don't like it. So many nice scandi names. Ebba ain't one.

Disfordarkchocolate · 08/06/2019 21:52

Ebba is lovely. Unless you're surrounded by lots of people who don't listen or can't hear I'm sure they'll hear Ebba too.

BlueMerchant · 08/06/2019 21:52

Love Karina

Penny4Thoughts · 08/06/2019 23:26

I don’t really like it - would be nicer as an unusual nickname for Elizabeth?

TheLetterOfTheLawTheLetter · 09/06/2019 07:44

Thanks for suggestions, unfortunately I thought Emma with a cold and see I'm not the only one.

Other options-

Malin (dh has always liked this and I think it's elegant, but i'm not sure if too grown up for a baby?)
Freja (will fit well with ds1 but lots of these around)
Ida/Aida
Emilia
Sofie (pretty, can't go wrong but too common?)
Maja (again dh loves this but not sure as I grew up in UK during a when there were loads of mayas.....)

Anyone think these are contenders? Thank you!

I love Malin and Freja and she’ll of course be an adult a lot longer than a baby as you know so you mustn’t let the fact it’s a grown up name put you off Grin

Good luck

Penny4Thoughts · 09/06/2019 07:54

Malin is lovely

BlueMerchant · 09/06/2019 08:38

Malin

daisypond · 09/06/2019 09:33

Malin is great.

Sophronia · 09/06/2019 10:00

Malin

Enko · 09/06/2019 11:46

Ebbs. Is lovely and one of few Scandinavian names that will be said right in English.. Personally it re minds me of my great aunt. And I am smiling seeing it as she was lovely

TatianaLarina · 09/06/2019 12:22

She will get called Abba in the U.K.

Christa
Grete
Marta/Martha
Lena
Siri

KarineAimee · 09/06/2019 17:44

Ebba is fine. I really love Malin though!

OneFootintheRave · 09/06/2019 18:56

Siv

TheLetterOfTheLawTheLetter · 09/06/2019 19:20

Thanks again for suggestions. I will have to seriously reconsider Malin, I did love it but our son has a name stating with Ma so dont wasn't to sound too twee

Of course it may not even be a girl, which would simplify things!

villamariavintrapp · 09/06/2019 19:25

Like Malin. Or maybe Elke?

TheRedBarrows · 09/06/2019 19:28

Emma with a cold
Or
ABBA said by an Afirkaaner.

MikeUniformMike · 09/06/2019 21:56

Malin. She will be a grown-up a lot longer than she'll be a baby.
