What do you think of these names for a girl? I know Merrily is a bit out there, but I really like it and love the idea of Merry as a nickname for either of these.

Merryn is gorgeous, my #1 favourite name at the mo.

Merrily is an adverb. Call her that and she’ll have ‘merrily merrily merrily merrily, life is but a dream’ sung to her for ever and a day, which she won’t thank you for.

As a Game of Thrones fan Merryn would be right out. But he’s a fairly minor character, so I guess I’m in a small minority in having that problem.

And it’s a girls name in real life.

So not terribly relevant.

Merryn is fabulous.

Merrily reminds me of "Row, row, row the boat..."

Ohh I actually quite like what a previous poster as suggested Merrilyn sounds quite pretty

desparate4sleep · 01/06/2019 23:18

Sorry both are horrible. Meredith is nice.

GlitterPixie · 01/06/2019 23:49

Row row row your boat.. Merrily would hear that a lot I think. Merryn is nice

Don’t like Merrilyn — reminds me of a horrible Marilyn I used to know.

Merryn goes on the list then! Thanks for the feedback.

Merrily makes me thing of Melody, Elodie and Cecily. If you like its meaning, how about some of the 'virtue names' like Honor, Verity, Faith. Or there's an African (sorry don't know which countries) tradition of 'literal' names like Blessing or Precious.

Mrspenny87 · 02/06/2019 11:58

What about Merridy?

daisypond · 02/06/2019 12:53

How about Joy?

Sagradafamiliar · 02/06/2019 13:22

Meryl?
