Girl varients of boys names

Hi
Really stuck for girls ideas
I like Jay/Jaya
Callie (Cal)
Edith
Jackie (Jack)
All four of the names I first liked in books where the female character (of that name) was strong and adventurous etc.
I would like the name to have a masculine nickname but also be a girl's name in its own right.
Thoughts on my ideas/ new names please
Thanks

Well obviously you can call your child what you lie and everyone has different styles etc.

But this really annoys me.

Girls don't become confident and strong because you give them a boys name. They can be strong and confident and called Emily or Sophie or whatever.

@BertrandRussell
@WaxOnFeckOff
It's not about strong names being Masculine, my name is one of the one already mentioned on the thread and I always use the more commonly male nickname and I want my DD to have this option as I hate the female varient

@BertrandRussel

Currently girls names. Originally boys names.
So strong sounding girls names.

Are you reading before you post?

Yes I am. You are saying that boy’s names are inherently “strong”. Which is ridiculous.

It is particularly ridiculous when they are names which would be generally considered unacceptably feminine if given to a boy nowadays.

Why why why does every post have to become an argument about right and wrong and opinions that weren't asked for?
It has nothing to do with you.

She asked a question - either answer the question or bog off.

It's not the place to start questioning life choices or philosophising (even if you are - may I point out again - naming yourself after a MALE philosopher) on the reasons.

It's none of your business.

“Mum- I’ve often wondered. Why did you give me a boy’s name?”

“Because I wanted you to be a strong woman, darling”

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 03/06/2019 12:45

I’ve always wanted a Miranda, shortened to Andie.

I also like Roberta shortened to Bertie.
