I'm Welsh, living in England and on the hunt for easily pronounced Welsh names for DC2. I think I like Macsen, but having never met one when I grew up in Wales not sure if it's pronounced MAC-sen or MACS-en?

@Absolutepowercorrupts your pronunciation guide is not only confusing, it's also totally inaccurate. "Stress in polysyllabic words occurs most commonly on the penultimate syllable"... That's a direct quote from the Welsh phonology page on Wikipedia. It's MACS-en, or MAX-en to English ears.

absolute, you are not right. This is how it works:
In Welsh, regardless of the number of syllables, the stress is always on the penultimate syllable.
If there is only one syllable, the stress is on that one, obviously.
So, Macsen, is MACS-en.

Macsen however it is pronounced is two syllables. Not one, my explanation was confusing but it's still 2 syllables. Bob is one syllable Bobby is two. Jack is one syllable Jackie is two

I'm welsh and living in England, Macsen was our boys name.. we would shorten it to Macs
