Yay or nay?

Worried it’s a bit too marmite.
Anyone know any baby Camilla’s?

other option is Zara.

I know a baby Camilla. I like it now I think of her!

NC4Now · 09/05/2019 18:18

Pretty but I do think of Parker Bowles.

BlueMerchant · 09/05/2019 18:21

Like both equally.
Camilla I see as beautiful and elegant
Zara as feisty and edgy but classic too.
( If that helpsConfused)

HastaLaVistaPrint · 09/05/2019 18:23

I prefer Camille, then Zara, then Camilla.

Maxandrubyrabbit · 09/05/2019 18:23

@stellarfox ooh is she English? I know Camilla is much more popular in other European countries than in the UK. Was there any negative reaction to her name because of Parker-Bowles?

Moongirl10 · 09/05/2019 18:23

I like both! Slightly prefer Camilla.

IhavetoD0something · 09/05/2019 18:24

Nay.
But camèllia maybe.

LizziesTwin · 09/05/2019 18:25

I have one in her late teens. I think that CPB has been rehabilitated, never any comments about her. We know a Camila (Italian) who is also late teens. Mine uses a nickname.

Maxandrubyrabbit · 09/05/2019 18:27

@lizziestwin
Oh amazing. She doesn’t suffer any bullying because of her name or anything? I hope that’s not the reason she uses a nickname !

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 09/05/2019 18:35

I love it

LizziesTwin · 09/05/2019 18:38

None at all, never has.

Reasons I picked it: it works all over the world but is still unusual, by the time she is an adult everyone will have got over CPB & Princess Diana, can be shortened in quite a few ways, she’s used 3 different forms so far (!).

lakeswimmer · 09/05/2019 18:45

Yay - I really like it - pretty without being fussy, quite unusual but not pretentious, easy to spell and easy to pronounce. I used to babysit for a Camilla about 30 years ago - Millie for short.

I like Zara for similar reasons.

34plus4 · 09/05/2019 19:01

Eugh no, first thought is Camilla PB.

I think the world (outside of MN anyway!) is still far too team Diana for that.

Each to their own though.

stellarfox · 09/05/2019 19:39

@Maxandrubyrabbit Yes in England! I’m not sure if they’ve had any negativity but I do find people will forget other associations e.g. Parker bowls when they meet a new baby with the name so I wouldn’t let that stop you!

oohbubbles1 · 09/05/2019 19:52

I think its v pretty, do prefer Zara tho x

Willowkoko · 09/05/2019 21:03

Very marmite, strong no for me

moscovv · 10/05/2019 00:39

I know a Camilla well, she's always disliked her name, goes by a nickname and everyone's reaction to it is that she's got to be very very posh and she was teased a bit as a kid - camilla the gorilla etc. no Parker Bowles comments as far as I know. I actually don't mind the name though

notangelinajolie · 10/05/2019 00:41

Beautiful name.

DramaAlpaca · 10/05/2019 01:02

I think Camilla is a beautiful name but I prefer Zara.

Justlikedevon · 10/05/2019 02:01

Love it. Beautiful name. CPB has not sullied it for me because I give her zero mind space. I know one who is just lovely.

MercyBodle · 10/05/2019 02:15

Both lovely names but I prefer Camilla.

Tavannach · 10/05/2019 02:37

Camilla

DuffBeer · 10/05/2019 08:10

I think it sounds like a frilly nightie and is rather too twee for me so it would be a no!

Maxandrubyrabbit · 10/05/2019 08:50

Thanks everyone. Surprisingly positive comments considering how unpopular it is!

Just wanted to check, is it “try hard” or “pretentious” or “wannabe posho”. I come from a normal background, so I don’t know if Camilla will sound OTT?

@moscovv oh that’s a shame to hear. That puts be off slightly. Though I find it such a beautiful name.
