Hello you beautiful people

Love the name Cameron and I'm wondering what are your honest opinions on the spelling Camaeron?

Fairly sure I saw the spelling Camaeron floating around on the web, tho I can't find it now.

Thanks in advance Flowers

My name has unique spelling. Not only that but it's not a common name either. Drives me batshit crazy.

bamb00 · 29/04/2019 21:15

If you want it pronounced cam-uh-ron, spell it Cameron. Camaeron looks like it should be pronounced come-air-on, and also looks like a typo! Sorry x

GrannyHaddock · 29/04/2019 21:42

Kno, neau.

wobblebot · 29/04/2019 21:48

I have a cameron, enough people misspell his name (not including the e) without throwing in more opportunities/letters!

DorothyBastard · 29/04/2019 21:50

I’d assume it was ca-MAY-ron. The misspelling looks a bit clunky, and assuming you want the traditional pronunciation I’d stick with the traditional spelling

Justmuddlingalong · 29/04/2019 22:01

Why twist a perfectly nice name, to be yoonique, the only one in the class, why? And he/she'll never get a personalised keyring/mug/lunchbox with that spelling. That is reason enough to avoid it. Smile

You have now achieved qualified soothsayer status 😎

I was thinking of the ae being said 'ay'. Cause Cam- ay-ron said fast sounds similar to Cam-eh-ron ...at least to me, but judging by this thread it would seem I'm the only one Grin

why?

just because Cameron is quite a common name and I was trying to make it slightly more unique

This highly amusing comment was aimed at the first poster, just didn't know how to reply properly

Just don't do this.

If you like Cameron, use Cameron and don't mess around with the spelling. It isn't clever, interesting or funny.

Asa21 · 29/04/2019 23:03

I prefer it spelt Pcameron. Silent p of course.

Wow, actually so do IShock . What a truly beautiful name

Why do people want their kids to have odd spellings that make their parents look uneducated? It’s not the sort of label I’d want to stick a kid with but I feel like I’m in the minority

Asa21 · 29/04/2019 23:11

Yeah, good point. I think you're right

I teach a Camran at the moment. And have taught a Camaran.

Asa21 · 29/04/2019 23:15

I'd say the spelling is normally driven by parents wanting a unique name for their kid. I'm sure no parent wants their kid to seem like they're from an uneducated family Grin

Just that one parent's unique and special is another parent's yoonique and uneducated

I think some parents struggle to find a name they like because a popular name is too common. And a normal name is too boring. And a traditional name is too old fashioned. And a unique name that nobody they know has is all that matters. DIL is a teacher. There are some children with absolute corkers of a name.

Rosesaredead · 30/04/2019 11:14

Why?????

swimmerforlife · 30/04/2019 11:37

Make life easy for your kid OP.

I speak from bitter experience from my 'unique' name...

SilverySurfer · 30/04/2019 15:30

If you are happy for people to assume you are illiterate, then Camaeron is great. As I assume you're not, I would stick with Cameron.

Moneys2Tight2Mention · 30/04/2019 15:35

Kno neau

This made me LOL Grin

DonkeyHohtay · 30/04/2019 15:42

If you want a unique name for your child, name it fgfgjhrtrihfghfkthr, pronounced Cameron.

Or call it MagentaRainbowUnicornSunshinePlasticBottle or something.

Every child is unique and special. You do not have to underline this fact by butchering up a perfectly good name in order to make your child appear special. Cameron is a great name. Camran, Pcameron. Caemeron, Kamrin, Khamrhan or any of the other spellings you could come up with are rubbish.

Icklepup · 30/04/2019 17:13

Spell it right or find a more unique name, don't try to make a name unique!
