I love Sophie (may be biased Wink) but that, along with Phoebe and Alice are quite frequently used.

If you prefer something less usual I'd go for Caroline or Penelope...Caroline isn't often shortened and Penny is quite nice.

Ohhellothereladyface · 26/04/2019 21:00

I think Alice is my favourite.

pearldeodorant · 26/04/2019 22:07

Sophie is my favourite by a long way. Alice to me is a really plain name

Ikeameatballs · 26/04/2019 22:11

My order is:

Penelope
Phoebe
Alice
Sophie
Caroline

I don’t dislike any of them but somehow Caroline is the one I’d least associate with a baby.

NotMyUsualTopBilling · 26/04/2019 22:13

I like Alice and Sophie.

Not keen on the others.

I'd say more towards Alice as Sophie/Sophia is quite popular here.

RedFox695 · 26/04/2019 22:53

I adore Alice, to me its timeless and classic, suits a baby and an older lady.

I like Phoebe too but it's the name of a family dog, so I wouldn't use it but that's my problem, nothing wrong with the name!

Penelope is lovely, especially the nickname Penny. Not sure how well it would suit a grown woman though? Also seems less "classic" than your other names.

Not keen on sophie or caroline.

Bumblebeesmum · 26/04/2019 23:07

I think Alice is the most classic but I like Phoebe

Tavannach · 26/04/2019 23:09

Alice

SE13Mummy · 26/04/2019 23:38

They're all lovely names. Sophie feels as though it's been popular for decades so is classic in that sense and I know a fair few Phoebes and Alices aged 0 to 20ish. Caroline is a name I associate with people in their 30s and 40s but Penelope is my favourite of your list. I like the different nickname options e.g. Penny, Nell, Pip.

CruCru · 27/04/2019 11:53

Re Caroline - I think this is a lovely name and underused but I’ve heard it pronounced Caro-line and Caro-lin. The woman I know called Caro-line gets annoyed when it is pronounced the other way (which is the standard way of pronouncing it where I’m from).

SirVixofVixHall · 27/04/2019 12:45

I know two Sophies, both mid to late fifties. Two Penelopes, one in her fifties and one aged 12. Two Alices, both about 14, three Carolines, one is 80, one 58, and one 55. One Phoebe, who is in her sixties. I also know a Carolyn, who is 70. So all classic names and not over used.

YouLikeTheBadOnesToo · 27/04/2019 12:49

Alice is my very favourite girls name. I like Sophie, but would personally choose Sophia (that’s actually my second favourite girls name)

abcriskringle · 27/04/2019 13:36

Not a huge fan of Alice, I find it quite boring but I'm clearly in the minority! Sophie is much better in my opinion. Also love Penelope, gorgeous name.

NameChangeSameRage · 29/04/2019 06:58

Ranked best to worst (IMO, of course!)

Sophie (love this)
Alice (very pretty, very classic)
Caroline (solid classic name)
Phoebe (Pretty but too popular)
Penelope (Sorry, I hate this name!)

RinkityTink · 02/05/2019 15:24

Sophie and Alice are both classic and beautiful. I know sisters with these names.

starkid · 02/05/2019 17:09

Alice

Expressedways · 02/05/2019 17:12

Love Alice and Phoebe. Nothing wrong with the other names but I don’t particularly like them.

VanessaShanessaJenkins · 02/05/2019 17:15

I've got a sophie and although we're not having more I always say if I were to have another girl tomorrow I would call her Alice.

RedBerryTea · 02/05/2019 17:18

Grin My eldest DD is called Sophie Alice ….. so obviously I love those names! She's a married woman now.

MustardYellowJumper · 03/05/2019 06:35

Caroline. I know a lovely little girl Caroline, and it really suits her!

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 03/05/2019 06:38

I like Alice and Caroline from your list.

I agree that Penelope is becoming very popular and could become quite dated.

Happilyacceptingcookies · 03/05/2019 06:52

Phoebe.

Angellucy07 · 03/05/2019 13:38

Sophie - always loved this. It would have been DC 3's name if he'd been a girl. Also love Sophia.
Phoebe - Another that was always on my short list.
Penelope - I like, but would shorten to Nelly rather than Penny.
Alice - Lovely classic name. One of my daughter's middle names.
Caroline - I actually really like this and would love to see it make a come back. I have heard it shortened to either Carrie or Callie which are both lovely.
