Are these too close? We like the name Jaxon for a boy. However we have friends with the surname Jackson and a fairly close family member with the first name Jack.

My OH is called jack, if we have a boy we are going to call him jaxon, I think it's a lovely name

Flamingosnbears · 19/04/2019 15:32

Probably a little close for comfort but if you love the name go for it.

MargotSimpson · 19/04/2019 15:55

I wouldn’t call him Jaxon/Jackson if I had a sibling called Jack. The fact that it’s a friend’s surname wouldn’t bother me though

Wheresmyvagina · 19/04/2019 15:58

If you think Jackson isn't ok then why would you pick jaxon? It's the same name with a stupid spelling.
I don't think Jackson is the same name as jack at all so presuming you don't plan to shorten it to jack then it's fine. Please pick Jackson though not jaxon.

chloe9991 · 19/04/2019 16:51

@Wheresmyvagina it's not stupid, it's just different to how you would do it, that's not a bad thing

Wheresmyvagina · 19/04/2019 17:34

No, it's stupid. It is an unnecessary change to an accepted name. It will mean the child spends half his life correcting spellings. It's totally stupid.

Kittykatmacbill · 21/04/2019 18:23

Are there not any other ‘j’ names you like, uncle jack and baby Jackson / Jaxon makes it seem like you have a very, um, complex family.

Jacob, james, john, Joshua etc instead?

Bumblebeesmum · 22/04/2019 01:53

Is Jaxon a real name?
I’d talk to the family member and just use Jack if they’re happy with it - Jack is a nice classic

Lolalilo · 22/04/2019 02:05

It's the modern day Jason.

V chavvy.

pilates · 22/04/2019 10:10

Too close, have you got any other contenders?

shiveringtimber · 22/04/2019 18:00

I pity children whose parents saddle them with dreadful names.

stellarfox · 22/04/2019 22:45

I think it’s fine but I prefer the Jackson spelling, this is on my list! Although if you check ONS I think Jaxon is more popular than Jackson. I don’t think it would matter you have friends with this surname

WanderingTrolley1 · 22/04/2019 22:50

Awful way to spell Jackson.

FishCanFly · 24/04/2019 08:32

Jack

MooBaaLaLaLa · 24/04/2019 08:40

I know a little Jaxon, goes by Jax which is growing on me.

FrequentNameChange · 24/04/2019 08:50

I teach and all the Jackson's I know are lovely. However, I am in agreement the Jaxon/Jaxen spellings are indeed common and not in a good way.

The jacksons I know are shortened to Jacks, rather than jack. OP, if you love the name go for it but be careful with the spelling.

MumUnderTheMoon · 24/04/2019 15:13

What about Jacobe? It's pronounced Jack-o-bee nn Jack

MissHenty · 24/04/2019 16:33

I don’t think people here know how popular the spelling Jaxon is. When your son grows up he’ll no doubt be asked “is your name spelt with CK or with X”. Wouldn’t worry at all about this

slappinthebass · 25/04/2019 11:48

Have you asked your brother if he thinks it's too close? If he doesn't care what is the problem?

Jaxon is actually 52 in the name charts so very very popular. That's without the popular variations I've seen a lot like Jax, Jaxx, Jaxxon, Jaxson all near the top 100. Combined this would be a top 10 name. I've not met one who's parents aren't chavvy though...
