Baby girl was born on monday but we still haven't decided on a name. I love Elsie but I don't like it with our surname as it also starts with an E. Trying to find a name that doesn't start with a vowel as that will probably go better but I just can't find any that I like

I can't seem to be able to post a picture for some reason. I have been leaning towards Marnie but now I keep thinking it sounds like mardy

I think I'm not able to post pictures because I only just joined this morning

I see what you mean about Marnie/Mardy. Maybe don't go with that as you'll probably think about that a lot. When I settled on dds name I thought "maybe that doesn't flow very well?" But I loved it. I still have that thought once or twice a week, she's 11.

Threeandabit · 05/04/2019 21:19

I know it's a very personal thing, naming a person, but to me Marnie Grace sounds a little like mardi gras. Just thought I'd point it out.

Maisie instead of Marnie?

Kikibee · 05/04/2019 21:30

Quick name it before the royal baby is born, they might pick your favourite name, what about Meghan? 🤣

I was two weeks without a name, apparently I didn’t look like a Lisa (the originally thought of name). I really like my name now so I’m glad my parents took their time.

Or Polly.

MadameJosephine · 05/04/2019 22:15

How about Sadie, Tessa or Jenny?

HoHoHolittlepea · 05/04/2019 22:18

Congratulations if youd like something less mardy sounding than marnie How about Marie or Maria?
I always think Laura and Lauren are beautiful names and quite underused. Or Joanna that's my favourite but can't use die to our surname.

ifigoup · 05/04/2019 22:21

Sorry if this is too mad, but what about Chelsea as it sounds like Elsie but doesn’t start with E?!

Threeandabit · 05/04/2019 22:40

Beatrix, meaning "She who brings happiness".
Rona, meaning "My joy"

how about Hazel? it has the same vibe as Elsie but much nicer imo and doesn’t start with a vowel! Hazel is such a lovely name x
