Thoughts please ? Is it old fashioned and dull or beautiful and lovely?
I really love it but my husband isn’t convinced.

DramaAlpaca · 21/03/2019 20:28

It's none of the above, it's cutesy & twee. Not my sort of name at all, sorry.

Wolfiefan · 21/03/2019 20:29

Certainly not ending ie.

Moltenpink · 21/03/2019 20:30

I like it, never seen it with ie but I think it looks good that way.

ilovecheese1 · 21/03/2019 20:30

It’s a nice enough sounding name to me, but I don’t think it’s very original. I would just think ‘ah another darcy’

BlueMerchant · 21/03/2019 20:31

It's not dull or old fashioned. It is a pretty name but very popular where I live.

AfterSchoolWorry · 21/03/2019 20:31

Had two in a class about 3 years ago.

It's peaked

SweetbutaPsycho · 21/03/2019 20:33

I used to like Darcy like Mr Darcy but it's been quitenpopulsr over the past few years and tbh mostly with chavs!

Georgeofthejungle · 21/03/2019 20:33

Or Darcy - not really fussy on spelling. It’s not that popular a name round where I live. I don’t know any.

@DramaAlpaca out of interest what kind of names do you like?

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 21/03/2019 20:34

I'm with DramaAlpaca, though I wouldn't have said 'cutesy' - more, just, not very pleasing. A bit of a shame, with so many wonderful girls' names out there.

Georgeofthejungle · 21/03/2019 20:36

@AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo I wish I could think of some! I really am stumped!

XWey · 21/03/2019 20:40

I like it. I worked with a Darcie - same spelling. Always thought it was a nice name!

DramaAlpaca · 21/03/2019 20:42

I know it's probably very boring, but I tend to like more classic names that don't date, names that suit adults as well as cute toddlers.

We have very different styles, so I'm not much help to you, OP!

Lobsterquadrille2 · 21/03/2019 20:43

I have a niece Darcy (7) and it really suits her. I like it.

daisypond · 21/03/2019 20:45

I see it as very downmarket really, I’m afraid.

Crystalblue13 · 21/03/2019 20:48

I really like the name Darcy. I just know one aged 6.

MikeUniformMike · 21/03/2019 21:07

I don't think it sounds or looks nice.
It's popularity probably stems from a well known tv programme judge.
It will date badly.

CatSmize · 22/03/2019 14:14

I don't find it "cutesy" or "twee" as mentioned above. I think it's a really gorgeous name.

megrichardson · 22/03/2019 14:15

I like it.

Hollowvictory · 22/03/2019 14:17

Downmarket.
Darcey Bussell being the exception.

aliceandkids77 · 23/03/2019 15:01

I love it, gorgeous name! how about spellings Darcy and Darcey your husband may prefer it written a different way?

CloserIAm2Fine · 23/03/2019 17:50

I really like it

Bumblebeesmum · 24/03/2019 00:48

I like it but I’d be put off by the Darcy, Darcey, Darcie all having tonnes of registrations for both boys and girls, meaning a lifetime of spelling issues.

A friend has a Dulcie which I think is really pretty & under a hundred are registered each year

Shadow1234 · 24/03/2019 19:09

Really like it, but spelt Darcy.
