Hi...so Delilah received mixed reviews.

What about Lila? Is it a classic name?

Do you like it?

Pronounced lie-la

It's pretty, but it's not in any way a classic. It's a bit of a wishy washy name with not much about it, tbh.

Delilah is much nicer, it's strong & fabulous. As long as you don't mind its history, that is.

Shadow1234 · 17/03/2019 07:45

it's short and sweet.

RosiePosies · 17/03/2019 07:48

I love Delilah, and Lila for short is so nice. That way she has the option!

Whynotnowbaby · 17/03/2019 07:49

It doesn’t do it for me, sounds a bit like Lilo and also very like Lola which I’m also not a fan of.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 17/03/2019 08:11

No not classic, boring name to me.

Harebel · 17/03/2019 08:12

Sounds like sanitary protection, sorry.

BloominSloe · 17/03/2019 08:14

It's not classic. If you like Delilah use it! Don't listen to what strangers on the internet say! One thread they are fawning over a name and on another thread it will get ripped to shreds.
I love Delilah! It's the name of my old dog and I wish I had saved it for a daughter now!

RaspberryBubblegum · 17/03/2019 08:14

Sounds like you missed the C off Lilac... Though I do actually like Lilac 😂

Letthemysterybe · 17/03/2019 08:14

I think it’s boring,sorry! But I do like Delilah.

brizzlemint · 17/03/2019 08:23

I'm not a fan, I prefer strong names.

HeronLanyon · 17/03/2019 08:28

How about Lyra ? Stronger to my ear.

RuthW · 17/03/2019 08:34

Delilah is lovely

Lila is awful. Reminds me if lilo on a swimming pool

daisypond · 17/03/2019 08:37

I find it v bland as well. It has no substance to it. Fine as a nickname for something else though. Not a classic either.

Othelloo · 17/03/2019 08:40

Thanks everyone.

I thought it was classic in the sense that it’s “vintage”.

However since it’s been likened to Lola, I’m quite dubious now of its longevity as a timeless name. Might just be trendy

I like Lila and I like it spelt it that way, it was my grandmother's middle name so I'd have loved to use it.

GoldenHour · 17/03/2019 08:46

She was born in the 1930s by the way.

Frazzled2207 · 17/03/2019 08:48

I know two! Like it. I teach and a nice alternative to Lily- there are millions

Sophronia · 17/03/2019 09:01

Lovely name. I prefer it short for Delilah though.

Pinkyyy · 17/03/2019 09:04

I've known a Lila. She had to constantly explain that it was lie-la and not lee-la. I love the name Delilah

EngagedAgain · 17/03/2019 09:05

What about Layla? Delilah to me sounds very old fashioned. I do like some of the older names, so I'm not anti older names just ones like that.

imsorryiasked · 17/03/2019 09:06

I know one named "Lila" but it's pronounced Lilla.
I think I'd probably spell it "Lilah" to get the Lie-la sound.

EngagedAgain · 17/03/2019 15:52

Sorry meant Leyla, probably the better version?

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 17/03/2019 15:58

I like Lila! Not a fan of Delilah.

Lila Jade or Lila Jane are beautiful combos to me!

Carlamity · 17/03/2019 16:07

Doing family tree recently, I came across a relative called Lylie recently. Quite liked it.

Nonameyet1 · 17/03/2019 18:48

I know a child called Lila but pronounced Lil-a so would think could lead to some confusion.
Don’t really like either pronunciation - sorry.
