I like both. Love ‘maddy’ as nickname or ‘mads’ both of which friends of mine are known by.
Grace is very beautiful - I know it is hugely used as a middle name - is it ‘overused’ (as if there were a limit!) as a first name?

blackcat86 · 16/03/2019 05:41

I love both names and DD was almost a grace. But maybe reconsider Madeline depending on when you're due as Netflix are launching a Madeline McCann document which could be an uncomfortable link. We discounted Madeline for this reason

Peachbubble · 16/03/2019 05:56

I vote for Grace

RagamuffinCat · 16/03/2019 05:57

I love Madeleine. It's a beautiful name.

BloominSloe · 16/03/2019 06:49

Both! Madeleine Grace sounds beautiful!

I don't ever associate the name Madeleine with Madaleien McCann. It's just a name. It's stupid to link names with a missing person! Does it suggest that everyone with the same name who has ever gone missing or done a horrendous crime will have the same fate? Madeleine is a beautiful name and it's hardly notorious.

I didn’t for a second think of Madeleine McCann and I just read a news story about her earlier this morning !

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 16/03/2019 06:58

She’s a missing child not a mass murderer, even if you do think of her it’s not a terrible thing.

Madeleine Grace for me

Well said, I’m sick of seeing posters saying that they’d never choose Madeleine because of Madeleine McCann. It baffles me how on earth they connect a small child going missing to something distasteful or negative.

Now if it was Myra then I would understand but not Madeleine, fwiw I think it’s beautiful and a million times nicer than Grace which imo is ok for a middle name.

AJPTaylor · 16/03/2019 07:51

Dd2 Is 21 and is a Madeleine. It's a name that has served her well!

wizzler · 16/03/2019 08:03

I have a Madeleine and I highly recommend it!

MummaGiles · 16/03/2019 08:05

Madeleine

Skittlesss · 16/03/2019 08:07

Grace Madeline

SherlockSays · 16/03/2019 08:10

Grace is far too popular for me. I love Madeline though.

daisypond · 16/03/2019 09:09

I love both.

Ghostwriter90 · 16/03/2019 09:44

Grace

pineapplebryanbrown · 16/03/2019 12:15

I love both but possibly Grace and Gracie have been over used atm. Madeleine is lovely.

DramaAlpaca · 16/03/2019 13:18

Madeleine.

BlueMerchant · 16/03/2019 13:21

Grace.

mrsdavys · 16/03/2019 14:11

Madeleine is beautiful!
No link for me at all to Madeleine McCann. I think it’s a common enough name that it wouldn’t draw links for most people.
Oh I also hate Maddie as a nickname but that’s personal preference of course!

AnnaSparks · 16/03/2019 14:20

Sorry, I just think McCann.

Grace is lovely.

Ribbonsonabox · 16/03/2019 14:24

Madeleine. I think it's a very beautiful name. It's in such regular usage that I doubt anyone will think of the mccanns! I know two Maddies my own age and a toddler Maddie.... it's far from unusual so I dont think it just links to the Mccanns at all!!

Grace is pretty but it's really popular at the moment so that would put me off.

Pemba · 16/03/2019 15:00

Madeleine is a lovely name, just sounds nice. Grace would make a good middle name, as pps said. The thing with Grace, although I quite like it now, is that I think people only like it because of the lovely meaning. And it's short and makes a good middle name, like Rose does. But the actual sound of the word 'grr-ayss' isn't particularly attractive.
