Bridget Eilidh?

First of all, I'm really sorry for putting up another post but I am looking for extra advice using the same name from the last one (Eilidh - ay-lee) but instead of putting it in the first name spot putting it in the middle name spot instead.
The name Eilidh I do really love but as I said on my last post, I also really like Bridget but didn't know if we was brave enough to use it. But what are peoples actual thoughts on the first name Bridget? Is it the type of old that is done and over with, or is it that type of old which sounds refreshing to hear again?
We are a bit confused right now as to whether to go with Eilidh, or to be brave and use Bridget which we may like that little bit more. Please give your honest opinions, thank you again❤

It's a nice name but makes me think of Bridget Jones, the generation shes of probably won't make the connection though. Eilidh is one of my favourite names though so I'd go with that instead.

Falafel19 · 14/03/2019 11:27

I'm Irish, I absolutely can't stand Bridget. It's a dated name here now but it's also not even a nice sounding name to begin with imo, sorry.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 14/03/2019 12:33

Bridget is dreadful. I’d change my name had my parents called me that. Eillidh is better.

Contraceptionismyfriend · 14/03/2019 12:34

I don't like Bridget and i do not this those two names sound good together at all.

BlueMerchant · 14/03/2019 12:37

I like Eilidh and I like Bridget.
Bridget is not 'done'. I think it's great and suits all ages.

Peachbubble · 14/03/2019 12:45

I think Bridget is an awful name, it's very hard sounding, and not due a comeback. I'd stick with Eilidh, which is a beautiful name.

Sexnotgender · 14/03/2019 12:46

Love Eilidh, hate Bridget.

chimppyjamas · 14/03/2019 13:24

Bit harsh! It's my name and I'm very proud of it. It's strong and unusual (in SE UK).

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 14/03/2019 13:26

Eilidh over Bridget every time.

IHeartKingThistle · 14/03/2019 13:32

I know a little Bridget. I really like it.

gokartdillydilly · 14/03/2019 13:34

Be prepared for a lifetime of explaining, correcting and spelling if you go for a name that sounds different to how it sounds. (Unless you're in Ireland I suppose, where that is quite the norm). My name is an unusually-spelled version of Dylan (thanks Mum Hmm ) and I'm always having to explain, confirm, correct and just put up with the plethora of spelling/misspellings, so I just go by my shortened version to save the hassle.

ladycarlotta · 14/03/2019 15:12

if you like Bridget, that's what matters. Not what randos on the internet think. Although fwiw, I, a rando on the internet, think it's unusual and elegant.

ItProtectsMyHead · 14/03/2019 19:49

I'm clearly in the minority here but I really like Bridget. Does it matter though, if you like it? Eilidh is also lovely, you've picked two great names there Smile

Samind · 14/03/2019 19:50

Bridget is gorgeous and you can call her biddy for short. I love it!!! 🥰

Whereareyouspot · 14/03/2019 19:52

Bridget reminds me of old nuns

But if you love it use it! If I met a little baby Bridget I’d probably start living the name again.
And you may hate the names I used for my kids but so what!

Don’t ask on here’s because it will sway you and you won’t find a name unanimously loved

LavenderFairyrunswild · 14/03/2019 19:55

My gran had a couple of friends called Bridget - it was shortened to Bridie. How do you feel about that?

Divgirl2 · 14/03/2019 19:56

I'm in Scotland and really don't like Eilidh. I can just imagine it being screamed out the window of a tenement with that horrible harsh Glaswegian twang AILEH.

I like Bridget though. Good strong name, I've never met one either (we're swimming in Eilidhs here).

gokartdillydilly · 14/03/2019 19:58

And she will be called Eyelid by idiots.

Keewee27 · 14/03/2019 20:56

I really like both names. Eilidh is one of my favourites.

I think Eilidh Bridget flows better than Bridget Eilidh but I'd use either name happily. Good choices, OP!

Canyousewcushions · 14/03/2019 21:02

I like Bridget. Another alternative would be to consider Brigid for a more Celtic take on it. Also love Eilidh although not sure they flow quite right as a pair.

DramaAlpaca · 14/03/2019 21:06

Be brave, use Bridget. It's lovely.

BakewellTarts · 14/03/2019 21:32

I know the coolest, feminist, smart and sassy 18 year Bridget and think its a fab name (not my daughter BTW).

CountFosco · 14/03/2019 21:42

Ireland is full of aul wans called Brigid so it's considered old fashioned. If you are in the UK it will probably be nice and unusual though.
