Kristina, Christina or Cristina

Which spelling? And so you think it is dated?
Middle names will be Mary Kim. And do you think I should avoid Mary because of the Christ and Mary link?
Nickname will most likely be used and will be Krissy/Chrissy etc

I like the Scandi vibe of Kristina!

ColeHawlins · 15/03/2019 15:54

Christina. Or Christa.

Am I the only person who feels a shudder when people want to mess with the spellings of beautiful, classic names? What a legacy to visit upon a baby...

The K spelling is German /Scandi rather than made up, but yes, a bit odd unless you have a family connection.

Petalflowers · 15/03/2019 16:12

Christina is the classic spelling, or Kristina if you have European links. Not Cristina.

EntirelyAnonymised · 15/03/2019 16:13

They aren’t ‘misspellings’. They are legitimate spellings from other cultures.

UserAlice · 15/03/2019 16:54

IMO Kristina / Cristina are the nicer variations but your DD will have a lifetime of having to say “Kristina with a K” or “Cristina with no H” which is a right pain speaking as a Kristina

Babykoala1 · 15/03/2019 17:06

Neithina

Normandy144 · 15/03/2019 17:09

It's a classic name and pretty. I would use Christina assuming that you are of UK origin? Cristina is Spanish or Portuguese and Kristina is German /Scandinavian. Although that list is not exhaustive as most countries have their own variant spelling of the name, a quick Google will give you a full list. If you have heritage from elsewhere then i think it would be lovely to honour that in the spelling, but otherwise stick to Christina.

TatianaLarina · 15/03/2019 17:58

Christa.

Christina is a bit dated.

Cookit · 15/03/2019 18:15

Christina.

Crusoe · 15/03/2019 18:17

Lovely name. I’ve always liked the Cristina spelling.

DidYeeAye · 15/03/2019 20:20

Christina. My name is Christine so probably why that version looks the best lol I like it as a name and it's good you gave accepted Chris/ Chrissy as the probable nickname

Kokeshi123 · 16/03/2019 13:56

Christina.

Could be Christie or Kitty as a NN.

AuntieStella · 16/03/2019 13:59

I would spell it Christine

I think Kristina is fine as well

lljkk · 16/03/2019 14:04

I'm not keen on Crissy but rest is fine by me. Christina is very pretty.
Mary is very nice, too.

HollyBen · 16/03/2019 14:09

My grandmother was Christina nn Chrissy. She'd be in her 90s if she was still with us. I actually prefer Kristina but am not at all keen on the Krissy nn

emilybrontescorsett · 16/03/2019 15:10

Christina.
I like it.

Sophronia · 16/03/2019 22:48

Christina is nice. I don’t think it’s dated - Christine is though.

Freyanna · 16/03/2019 23:22

Christina for me.

Mollie85 · 17/03/2019 10:02

Not keen, much prefer Kristen or Kirsten which is of the same ilk and sounds a bit fresher to my ears

LazyLizzy · 17/03/2019 10:13

Christina nn Nina is lovely.

NinnieNouse · 17/03/2019 10:14

Chrissie? Horrible name!

CatkinToadflax · 17/03/2019 10:55

My DM (in her 70s) is a Christina. Throughout her life she's had people misreading/mishearing her name and assuming she's a Christine. It drives her mad!

foxtiger · 22/03/2019 18:25

Christina, unless you're a nationality that usually spells it another way. Nice name. Think I might like Christy best as a short form but actually I like the full Christina more!
