Otter

I know someone that's just used this for a DS.

Ridiculous! And somewhat cruel on the poor mite that's inevitably going to get ripped into at school, and later life!!

Imagine going for a job interview or big client meeting and introducing yourself as Otter ?!

People will assume otto

aliceandkids77 · 13/03/2019 09:58

Oh dear! Maybe he will try and go by Otto when he is older instead...

Flicketyflack · 13/03/2019 10:03

Certainly individual but I guess that is the point Confused

Jaz32 · 13/03/2019 11:02

I wouldn't use it but not much different to Fox, Kit, Wren, Bunny, Kitty etc

Easterbunnyiscomingsoon · 13/03/2019 11:10

Not very nice considering they are vicious little buggars!!

Divgirl2 · 13/03/2019 11:20

Otterly ridiculous!

KingLooieCatz · 13/03/2019 12:52

Sounds a bit fishy to me.

BarkandCheese · 13/03/2019 12:55

Also a bit unfortunate if he lives somewhere where people tend to drop h’s. Everything will think the poor kid is named “Hotter”.

PinkSquidgyPig · 13/03/2019 12:55

Pull the ott-her one!

Wedgiecar58 · 13/03/2019 13:30

Everything will think the poor kid is named “Hotter”.

I don't even think Hotter is worse than Otter!

HeritageCarrot · 13/03/2019 13:33

If he lives in Yorkshire everyone will think he’s saying Hotter with a very Yorkshire accent. Crazy name.

Flamingosnbears · 13/03/2019 14:06

Happen to agree with the poster who said no difference between otter, fox, bunny ect...

DailyFailAreTwats · 13/03/2019 14:12

Black Labrador, surely!

kaytee87 · 13/03/2019 14:16

NorthernRunner · 13/03/2019 14:21

I heard Rhubarb at the library this morning, I’m hoping it’s just a sweet nn and not an actual name

RoryLeighGilmore · 13/03/2019 14:22

I like it for a middle name.
I wouldn't pick it myself, but I'd choose that over the endless George/Thomas/Henry/Oliver etc there are around. I'd hate to saddle my kid with such a dull name.

HighestMountains · 13/03/2019 15:35

Oh dear. Will he actually go to school though? We home ed and the local home ed groups have a high proportion of kids with similarly ridiculous names.

Ginnymweasley · 13/03/2019 15:38

Its interesting if nothing else. Hopefully there will be a nickname in the future that he can use. Not sure I could take anyone with the name otter seriously tbh.

aliceelizaloves · 13/03/2019 19:04

I like it. Agree it's no different to Fox or Bear. And I've worked with lots of children and never heard anyone be bullied because of their name.

Ihuntmonsters · 13/03/2019 19:19

Fox and Bear are equally bad it's true, but that's not a good reason to pick Otter as the name for your poor child. When picking names there is a huge range available, no parent is forced to chose either ultra traditional or silly alternative. Plus there are always nicknames that can be used (eg Kitty, Bear, Bunny etc in older generations were always nicknames that children could choose to adopt more widely as adults or leave for family use only as they grew up)

Mollie85 · 17/03/2019 17:57

My cousins nn is Rhubarb and she’s a Ruby
