I'm really confused between these two names! I want to choose a unique name which is fairly uncommon. Help appreciated :)

I-rea is nicer yeh. It's just a worry how people will pronounce it. Sorry for lowering the tone with the diarrhea!
I personally would go for KyraSmile

daisypond · 09/03/2019 13:18

I like the look of Iria more than Kyra, which could get muddled up with Keira, Chiara. Ciara, etc. But I'm not sure how to pronounce it. I'd guess at I-REE-ah, with the i at the beginning sounding like "it" minus the T, and the emphasis on the second syllable.

Prequelle · 09/03/2019 13:20

Iria is close to arya which is going to be a super popular name soon. I already know 3.

chiarazuri · 09/03/2019 13:22

Thanks Blue and Daisy! I really like the look of Iria too but slightly concerned about the points raised previously about pronunciation. Kyra does seem quite harsh to look at..

Prequelle that is true! I know quite a few aryas as well! I like Iria and Kyra because they don't seem too common at the moment and seem like simple & short names which are still strong and pretty.. However neither have the easiest pronunciations... Confused

I prefer Ciara spelt with a C not a K.

goldengummybear · 09/03/2019 13:29

Does Kyra rhyme with Tyra or is it a form of Kiera?

chiarazuri · 09/03/2019 13:38

Kyra rhymes with Tyra. I like Keira but in my grandparents language it can also mean spider so that has really put my off that "keira" pronunciation as I know they won't like it for that reason.

I don’t really like either but I’d go with Kyra. Iria doesn’t work for me on any level, it just sounds like an illness.

chiarazuri · 09/03/2019 14:56

Thanks Tatiana! I understand your POV, Iria does have an unusual sound to it..

Very doubtful about these 2 options now. Thanks so much for the advice so far! Does anyone have any suggestions of any other names which are short, strong & still pretty. Not too harsh sounding and not too princessy either. Thanks! :)

Could you spell it Aiyria, Ayria or a version of that

RayaJambalaya · 09/03/2019 16:44

How about Mika or Cleo? Also I know I already mentioned it but I think Kaira is less 'harsh'. Not that I think Kyra is harsh really.

chiarazuri · 09/03/2019 19:29

I like the other suggestions, Thank you Muminator and Raya! :)

Aiyria doesnt seem to be an official name. That would be possiby unique to you

TheMuminator2 · 09/03/2019 20:00

Ayria is Canadian synthpop music so scratch that didnt know that before

TheMuminator2 · 09/03/2019 20:01

WHat about a combo...Kyria? Kairia? kairya?

chiarazuri · 09/03/2019 21:08

Thanks Muminator! That could also work! I am most likely going to settle for Kyra, as I think it's the more well known that Iria.
