Help with twin names - too similar to LOs?

Hi There
We have a two year old daughter named lily and now expecting twin boys. The two names I’ve always loved for a boy are Thomas & William - both family names that mean a lot. However we call our daughter Lil for short, and hubbys name is Phil, if I then call one of our boys Will is it going to drive me insane for the rest of time - calling out Phil, Lil, Will!!

Thomas is a definite other options for twin number 2 is Haydn/Hayden (I’ve also loved this name, former spelling, for about 16 years until recently a few people have mentioned it being overused which I had no idea about and now it’s put me off a little) and hubby has suggested Toby

Any thoughts or feedback or further suggestions to go with Lily & Thomas?

Thank you

When I said "lily, Thomas and..." in my head, my brain filled in the blank with Henry :-) but I think you'd be fine to use William/Will

I know a subset Lily amd William.
Also what about Phil Collins. His wife is Jill and his daughter is Lily. Phil Lil and JillSmile.
I wouldn't put Hayden with William, though. Thomas and William sound perfect together. I agree with pp about Thomas and Henry
Other ideas
Thomas and James
Thomas and George
Thomas and Andrew
Thomas and Alexander
Thomas and Michael

Haydn? Overused? Really?? I think it’s a lovely name. I’d say it’s more unusual than Lily and Thomas, so more ‘Top Ten’ names like Oliver,Jack and Harry might seem to better ‘fit’.

TheVanguardSix · 06/03/2019 13:53

Ah you’re fine,OP. Don’t overthink it and just go with you love.

Theoldwoman · 06/03/2019 13:54

My Nana was Lily, she had a brother Willie and a sister Milly (Millicent) There was 15 kids in total , so it wasn't a problem as they were spread out.

But it's not something I would do.

MonaChopsis · 06/03/2019 13:54

You could use Liam as a short form of William?

ReginaPhalange89 · 06/03/2019 14:08

Sorry I really dislike Hayden . I hate all those 'ayden' names like Jayden, Kayden etc. Just not my taste. It doesn't 'go' in my opinion either.

Thomas and William are lovely together , I don't think the shortening to Will would be too bad . Will it definitely be shortened to that ?

Thomas and Henry or Harry go nicely too.

BlueMerchant · 06/03/2019 14:13

Hayden doesn't match with your other names, it's not a strong, traditional name like William or Thomas.
I think
Thomas and James
Thomas and Isaac
Thomas and Owen
Thomas and Samuel
Thomas and Maxwell

If you're put off Haydn for being overused, I don't understand why Thomas and William are top of your list?
I've never come across a real life Haydn. I've met countless people called Thomas or William.
If you have an interesting surname maybe they would work, I'd personally avoid a more dull name like that if you have a regular or common surname.

Lydia55y · 06/03/2019 16:28

Thomas and Maxwell is good, then they both have a nice full version and short option of Tom and Max.

Thomas and Toby also go well 'name type' wise but i'm not personally a huge fan of same initials.

I wouldn’t agree that Haydn/Hayden is in the same group as Jayden and Kayden. Haydn is an old English / Irish name and the other two are American, no?
I like your choices!

Bumblebeesmum · 06/03/2019 17:35

No they’re all lovely & fine together

Jaz369 · 06/03/2019 19:03

Hi everyone
Thanks for your suggestions

I guess I meant Hayden is currently overused in the sense of the other ‘ayden’s’ and is less traditional - of course Haydn is much less common

You’ve also made me feel better about my first choice of Thomas and William. Plenty of other great other suggestions too for me to think over - although I’m still not 100%
Maybe it will be a wait and see what he looks like scenario
Thank you

Haydn doesn't fit at all.

Op I was in your exact scenario and I can count a few minor comments in my 40 years.
