Middle name for Siena

Hello, we are expecting a little girl and are torn between calling her Siena Rose or Siena Primrose. I love Rose as a middle name, but husband thinks it’s too popular (which I do agree with). Please help, which middle name would you choose out of the two, Rose or Primrose?? Thanks in advance 😊

I'd still go with rose. It flows nicely

AuntMarch · 02/03/2019 08:47

Neither. But I don't get the obsession with middle names and only see them as a nod to family connections.

AuntMarch · 02/03/2019 08:47

(but yes, if you actually want to use it Rose goes better of the two)

happytobemrsg · 02/03/2019 08:48

I think Siena Primrose is lovely

FiveStoryFire · 02/03/2019 09:10

I've never come across that spelling before. I always thought it was Sienna.

Dreamer82 · 02/03/2019 09:16

It’s after the Italian city, Siena x

Siena Rose
Siena reminds me of Italy but I associate Primrose with English woodland. The two don't go together in my mind.

Peachbubble · 02/03/2019 09:28

Siena Primrose

daisypond · 02/03/2019 10:25

They are both fine - use whichever you prefer. Rose has classic appeal whereas Primrose is slightly more quirky. I'd probably go for Primrose -"first rose"

Primrose

Siena Primrose is lovely. Hate the spelling Sienna, really turns a pretty name crass

DramaAlpaca · 02/03/2019 11:43

Rose. I don't like the 'prim' bit in Primrose, and Rose flows much better.

clarrylove · 02/03/2019 12:40

I love all the names but agree the styles do not marry up very well. I know a Sienna but with an Italian sounding middle name which fits very well.

Shadow1234 · 02/03/2019 13:01

Out of the two, I would go with Rose
But to be a littlw different, I would go with Rosa instead of Rose
Siena Rosa

Not Rose.

I know of three Siennas born in the last year-and-a-bit, and all of them have Rose as middle name. Primrose is better, as at least it's a bit different.

(To be fair, it's not just Siennas, the majority of baby girls whose middle names I know are Roses. Rose seems to be even more popular than Louise was in the 80s!)

Crunchymum · 02/03/2019 15:34

I appreciate the sentiment, but the common spelling has x2 n's and the alternative spelling just condemns your DD to a lifetime of correcting people and / or having her name misspelled.

Rose flows much better than Primrose. Although Primrose as a first name is lovely.

CarrieBlu · 02/03/2019 15:37

Not Rose, I think that combo is becoming very popular. Two Siena/Sienna’s born in my local town in the past 3 months and both with the middle name Rose. Though I’m not overly keen on Primrose either, it doesn’t work very well.

Sophronia · 03/03/2019 23:25

Primrose

Reaa · 03/03/2019 23:26

Rae

Heratnumber7 · 03/03/2019 23:34

It's Sienna.

HappyDinosaur · 04/03/2019 00:32

I like the name Sienna, not sure about Siena though, it's not a spelling I've seen before and I like the original better on balance, but that's just me. I think Sienna Rose sounds pretty and it doesn't really matter if Rose is popular as a middle name if you like it.

Pinkjellyfish · 04/03/2019 00:33

Primrose! It’s really pretty and Rose on its own is so overused as a middle name

CallMeRachel · 04/03/2019 01:02

I prefer Rose and wouldn't care that it was too popular.

I agree with PP about the alternative spelling of Sienna, it just doesn't look right in a name and your dd will always have her name misspelled.

She'll always be saying "Sienna with one n", why do it?
