Jessica is lovely l. It was very popular about 15 years ago but seems much less so now. It's a classic in my opinion and a lovely choice

Arthur is nice enough but so popular in my area its become a bit meh. I did consider it for a mn though

LegalEaglesNeeded · 01/03/2019 20:22

Arthur is a brilliant name but I love the Arthurian legends so I suppose I would think that.

Jessica is fine, a bit meh in my opinion but absolutely nothing wrong with it.

JRMisOdious · 01/03/2019 20:24

Like Arthur. Not so keen on Jessica but like Jess.

17caterpillars1mouse · 01/03/2019 20:27

I really dont like Poppy

BookClubBlues · 01/03/2019 20:30

Think of when she’s older and wants to be a lawyer / doctor / prime minister, Poppy P* is cute for a toddler but not a woman.

Love Jessica and Arthur, go with your gut.

anatol · 01/03/2019 20:31

I absolutely love Jessica!

To be honest I wouldn't be crazy about Arthur in most circumstances but when you say it's after your DH's grandad that actually makes me see it differently and makes me really like it. I love when names have a personal meaning or are after people who mean a lot to the parents, it just makes it really special and personal.

bluebellation · 01/03/2019 20:35

I think they're both good names, not too 'out there' but contemporary . I love Jess/Jessie as a nickname and Arthur is my favourite of the new 'old men's' names (sorry, but that's how I think of them as a 64 year old Wink). Good choices OP

Whisky2014 · 01/03/2019 21:09

Good point BookClubBlues

Ok im feeling quite reassured now. I mean I know 100% of people may not like them or be to their taste.

anatol Yeh i think that's why we both like Arthur so much. I had a lovely uncle Arthur and a close family friend too who my grandad used to call "Arturo" hehe. So works well for both my husband and myself.

bluebellation hehe I agree it is an old man's name hehe but I think it'll be nice and try I'll be Jess or Jessie for nickname. :)

Yay

I actually love Jesse as a boy's name too, but it might be a bit tease-worthy these days unfortunately.

Sophronia · 01/03/2019 23:07

Arthur is great but Jessica is a bit boring and 90s.

Shadow1234 · 01/03/2019 23:19

Like Arthur
Not keen on Jessica, but love Jess or Jessie as nn

ReginaPhalange89 · 02/03/2019 19:27

I have a Jessica , she's almost 7 now . She mostly goes by 'Jess' which I love , she totally suits it. So I obviously think it's a great name :) million times nicer than Poppy - I think poppy is very baby ish , nice for a little one but can't imagine it past the age of 5! Especially not on a grown up.

Arthur I'm not really keen on, I'm not overly fussed on the 'old fashioned' names. but if it has sentimental meaning then thats nice.

I do think Arthur and Jessica have completely different feels though so if you use one I probably wouldn't use the other for a sibling in future. Don't really 'go'

avacadooo · 02/03/2019 19:39

Arthur's my choice for a boy! I love it!

Jessica is lovely too!

The only girl's name that dh and I agree on is Roxanne and even now I'm not overly keen on it.

daisypond · 02/03/2019 19:49

I like Jessica. Arthur is OK - not my cup of tea, but fine.

Minglemangle · 02/03/2019 21:22

I don’t think Jessica is 90s. I’ve known a few spread across the years. If anything, aArthur is more likely to date, they are either 80+ or -10.

Smoliver · 02/03/2019 22:39

I like Jessica. I would use it myself if I could.

Arthur is a nice name too. I like the sound of Arthur Sydney. It has a nice ring to it.

Vestlandet · 04/03/2019 14:53

Arthur is very nice :-) Jessica is very 90s for me
