No I'm not keen on either they are not very easy to say

FlagFish · 20/02/2019 07:26

Prisha is nice - do you have Indian heritage?

Not keen on Nyra, sorry.

TortoiseLettuce · 20/02/2019 07:28

Out of the two I’d choose Prisha. Assuming you have Indian heritage as pp said.

Spam88 · 20/02/2019 07:30

Is it pronounced neera or n-eye-ra?

MikeUniformMike · 20/02/2019 11:20

Are you Indian. I've heard of the name Parisha, which seems nicer that Prisha.

Ellie2015 · 20/02/2019 16:23

Yes I am married to an Indian :)
Nyra is pronounced naa-ya-ra

Then a definite no for Nyra as it sounds very ugly the way you want to pronounce it. A bit blah blah blah in sound IYKWIM

ladybranstonpickle · 20/02/2019 16:36

What about Anara?

howrudeforme · 20/02/2019 16:44

Ok so if you want to go for Asian name they’re both nice. Think you’re pronouncing nyra wrong?

I assume ds will have Indian surname so do they go with the surname.?

I’m old and from Indian and English heritage. Have an English surname and parents went for a name recognisable in both languages (middles names Indian) . But they weren’t really fussed as uk was far more blended in the ‘60s.

My ds has father from neither of my backgrounds. ds has his father surname (a hilarious name) so went for forename a ta more serious and recognisable in English and xh language and it came out as a very boring ‘80s name 😂(and left the ‘cultural’ stuff for middle names).

howrudeforme · 20/02/2019 17:05

Then why don’t you do that horoscope letters thing and make something up. Archana is lovely as is Hemma (old fashioned but lovely.

Out of the two you’ve mooted I like prisha - what about Naira?

Look at your little baby girl and be guided!

Threenanger · 20/02/2019 17:26

Sorry not a fan of either... what about a bilingual name like maya, angel, annika, anoushka, Mira, kieren, Zara

Bumblebeesmum · 20/02/2019 18:20

I think Nyra looks nice although I’m still a little confused by the pronounciatian
A friend as an Alifiyah which wasn’t something I’d heard before but is pretty so I think once people hear it said the first time it won’t be too difficult - Nyra is also nice and easy to spell

Jaz32 · 20/02/2019 22:39

What about Priya? (pree-ah)

Camsie30 · 20/02/2019 22:40

My friend has a daughter called Naira which is lovely

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 20/02/2019 23:25

I love Priya. What about Amara OP?

Ellie2015 · 22/02/2019 19:47

Thank you all. Do Anara or Amara have a meaning? Howrudeforme that’s funny. The horoscope has a difficult word so we did not go for that. Both parents have names from N hence the reason for choosing Nyra but Prisha means precious (God’s blessing) so even though it’s neither starting from N nor it’s the horoscope we picked this one up. Oh naming a child is so confusing! How do you get guided by looking at the child?? 🤔

Prisha has a pretty sound.

shartsi · 22/02/2019 20:02

I like Priya

CatSmize · 23/02/2019 02:02

I prefer Priya. As someone said above, I like Nyra written but I'm confused about the pronunciation.

ICJump · 23/02/2019 02:06

Love both. Prisha I think works well for both a baby and an adult.

Threenanger · 23/02/2019 02:26

Oooh what about Nina!? I think that’s Indian...
