Which would you pick out of my final two girls names and why?

They are: Matilda and Georgia.

Matilda being the name I've had since before my first baby, but had a boy. Georgia I've recently fallen in love with. Can't decide.

Thanks!

Both nice however, prefer Matilda

Nonameyet1 · 11/02/2019 19:40

I really like both too. Which one goes better with your surname, middle name and sibling?

CloserIAm2Fine · 11/02/2019 19:41

They’re both gorgeous but I think Georgia but probably because I like George as a nickname

Didyeeaye · 11/02/2019 19:41

Georgia. Its less common than Matilda plus Georgie is a much better nickname than Tilly imo

Sophronia · 12/02/2019 00:02

Matilda. Georgia is dated.

JaneJeffer · 12/02/2019 00:10

Georgia

ShadyLady53 · 12/02/2019 00:14

Georgia.

SilverySurfer · 12/02/2019 16:38

Definitely Georgia - a lovely name.

WillowG · 12/02/2019 17:29

Matilda. I like Tilly as well.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 12/02/2019 18:13

Matilda. Georgia is dated.

Emily135 · 12/02/2019 22:04

Both beautiful names. Would have been on my list if close friends hadn’t used them already.

Do you have a middle name in mind? If you’re going with a family name, which of the two go best.

Xx

Matilda by a mile. Classic, elegant & timeless.

Georgia is dated and I'm sorry to say I don't think it's very classy. Georgina is much nicer, but that wasn't what you asked.

Pemba · 13/02/2019 15:57

I don't know if Matilda is really timeless. ' Obviously it was around a lot in the middle ages (still my main association for the name) and then again a bit in the Victorian era. Now it is having a bit of a moment again. Actual 'timeless' names are quite rare and can't be pinpointed to a specific era, Anna would be an example.

I don't think there is anything amazing about the sound of Matilda though, well it's OK.

I prefer the sound of Georgia, even though it is 'dated' to the 1990s. But I do like Georgina more.

SquiddyMcSquidford · 13/02/2019 16:01

Georgia or Georgina. Matilda is one of those names that used to be quirky but is now overused.

cptartapp · 13/02/2019 16:17

Matilda is infantile and Tilly as a nn is dreadful.
Agee Georgia is dated but would prefer this. As pp I also actually prefer Georgina, much classier.

aliceandkids77 · 15/02/2019 10:06

adore both! however I prefer Georgia bcause I'm in love with nn Gia. Like Matilda too though, especially if shortened to Tilly. good choices hun ! x

ButterflyOfFreedom · 15/02/2019 10:32

Both lovely but I'd say Matilda, just!
