I am expecting a DD, I like the Barbara but my friends say it's old fashioned but I think it's classy

What does everyone else think?

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/02/2019 21:03

I just can't get past Babs as a nickname, so it's a no from me.

MollyHuaCha · 10/02/2019 21:05

Sorry, I'm not a fan.

Frogstaring · 10/02/2019 21:06

Sorry, no

littlecabbage · 10/02/2019 21:06

I don't like it, sorry.

DramaAlpaca · 10/02/2019 21:07

I'm really sorry but to me it's dated & frumpy, not particularly classy & there are no nice diminutives.

Butterfly005 · 10/02/2019 21:08

I like it a lot! Lovely old-fashioned name.

paprickapaull · 10/02/2019 21:23

What about sue

OP posts:
YeOldeTrout · 10/02/2019 21:31

Ya gonna suggest Sharon & Tracy next?

If you love Barbara use it. Will probably be super popular in 15 yrs. Mark my words. (Sue is nice, too)

GreenDinosaur · 10/02/2019 21:36

Doesn't David Mitchel have a little Barbara or am I thinking of someone else?

Redcrayonisthebest · 10/02/2019 22:04

Since you've asked for opinions, I hate Barbara with a passion. She'll be born with a blue rinse and perm!!

Sue is blah but you could call her something lovely like Susannah/Suzanne and shorten.

Disfordarkchocolate · 10/02/2019 22:07

I've known two and they were both lovely. Victoria Coren Mitchell called her daughter Barbara too. If you love it use it. I like Susan too ( and Sally).

Ribbonsonabox · 10/02/2019 22:10

I dont like Barbara at all sorry.

I like Susannah/Suzanne

I strangely really like Deborah because it reminds me of the T-Rex song

NannyR · 10/02/2019 22:13

Not keen on Barbara at all but I do like Susan a lot, with Susie as a shortening.

MikeUniformMike · 11/02/2019 10:25

I like it. Not love it but it is ok. Babs is cute.

starkid · 11/02/2019 11:25

Barbara and Sue aren't good imo, sorry. Susanne/Susanna/Suzanne maybe? On their own remind me of my mums friends!

Avamore · 11/02/2019 11:29

I really like sue. I like Susan too.

LarkDescending · 11/02/2019 11:30

I really dislike Barbara.

I love Susanna(h), but prefer Susie to Sue. Susan, while not my favourite variant, is probably about ripe for a revival.

MikeUniformMike · 11/02/2019 13:08

Not keen on Sue but I like Susan and Susanna.
Susie is nice.
Suzanne seems dated to me

stellarfox · 11/02/2019 14:07

I’m not keen on it! I think there are some other similar old fashioned names that are back in favour though like Margot, Martha, Ivy, Iris, Esther, Ada, Mabel? Sue I still find very dated but I could see Susannah coming back into fashion with nn Susie.

Marcipex · 11/02/2019 14:14

I love Barbara. I know one called Bobbie.

confusedandcrazymother · 11/02/2019 19:02

Again not a fan of Barbara , I don’t think it’s due a come back yet. I prefer susannah to Susan (with nn susie)

Pippathenippa · 11/02/2019 22:10

Barbara & Sue 🤦🏼‍♀️ Sorry OP, I know we’re all different but these have to be 2 of the worst suggestions I’ve seen on here. Please don’t call your DD Barbara. Agree with Suzanna/susie etc suggestions ^

Calloway · 11/02/2019 22:16

Susan is fine (although Susannah is better) but I don't like Barbara. It seems like one of those self consciously 'so uncool it's cool' kind of names. I can absolutely picture some hipster couple with kids called Barbara and Clive. Bad names.
