Mary

BartonHollow · 09/02/2019 22:40

Don't think they are too close, different end sound, both lovely

TinselAngel · 09/02/2019 22:47

If I'd have had a second DD, she would have been Marianne.

Bubastes · 09/02/2019 22:50

Lovely names. They go well together.

Leonard Cohen fan?

DramaAlpaca · 09/02/2019 22:50

Perfect together.

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 09/02/2019 23:00

Lovely names, similar vibe IMO without being matchy or samey.

Ploppymoodypants · 09/02/2019 23:02

Lovely names. I have a friend called marianne who is wonderful in every way, so I always think fondly of the name. (It does get shortened to Maz though).

Snowymint · 09/02/2019 23:03

Leonard Cohen fan? Choose for you xxx

Sophronia · 09/02/2019 23:09

Lovely

Tillygetsit · 09/02/2019 23:37

Funnily enough my dad was a huge Leonard Cohen fan but I'm afraid he left me cold. Marianne Rosa is what we are thinking. DH really loves it too. Hope neither of us go off it before May! Thanks so much for the love for the name.

Too similar.
Both Anne names.

Susannach · 10/02/2019 08:20

Yes yes yes. Love both names! (And Leonard Cohen)

Tillygetsit · 10/02/2019 09:16

Yes 3in4years that was my concern. My mum's name is Anne so I suppose it would keep her happy!

Well it's not awful. I just wouldn't. I really love the name Susannah though.

HeronLanyon · 10/02/2019 10:02

Lenny!! First thought. Second thought they are both lovely names. Third thought they go well together. The Lenny thing is a bit obvious though so I personally would avoid just because it would seem a bit more about me than them. Congrats btw.

daisypond · 10/02/2019 17:49

I initially didn't think it would work because they both have the Anne/Anna ending, but I actually think it's OK. They're very nice names.

Tillygetsit · 10/02/2019 23:13

Vetoed by DH. Back to the drawing board. 😫Thanks though.

Oh that's a shame. Two of my favourite names. Tell him he has no taste! Although I suppose it's true that both Susannah and Marianne have an 'ann' emphasis, but I would have thought that they each have sufficient other different sounds in them for that to not matter. And you say your older daughter is normally Susie anyway.

Madeleine? That's lovely too. Clementine?

iMum · 13/02/2019 18:45

Ahhhh laughing Len-sorely missed x

LarkDescending · 13/02/2019 20:09

That’s a shame. Rosalind perhaps?

youllhavehadyourtea · 13/02/2019 20:57

Rosalind is lovely ^

Many years ago I met a Susannah who had two sisters, Constance and Vanessa. I marvelled at the trio of lovely names, and so wished I was one of her sisters to have been given an equally lovely name....

mrsm43s · 13/02/2019 22:15

Mariella, to get away from the two -ann sounds? It's a bit more frilly though. Or Marnie?

Tillygetsit · 13/02/2019 22:52

I love Vanessa but it's my sister in law. Know a Rosalind who is called Roz which I don't like. Mariella is a bit too frilly. Oh this is hard! Thanks for the help though. OH likes Francine. I don't at all.

Louisa, Victoria, Francesca, Lucinda?

LarkDescending · 13/02/2019 23:30

Or Marina?
