How to spell middle name!?

I had my gorgeous girl on Thursday and she is now 4 days old, going to register her birth on Thursday.
Her name is Alyssa. Her middle name will be Jay, this is to honour my dad who passed away when I was 28 weeks pregnant with her. His full name was James.
I'm unsure if I should spell it Jay or Jaye.
What do you think is better?

Jay not Jaye.

But actually I love James and it would totally fit for a middle name

StuckInTheMiddleWithJude · 04/02/2019 19:56

I wouldn't use James for a first name for a girl but I think giving her James as a middle name would be a lovely fitting tribute and it flows well. Alyssa James 😍

Highlowpo · 04/02/2019 19:59

I'd use James as well. I actually think it works well as a girls name and goes lovely with Alyssa.

MumUnderTheMoon · 04/02/2019 20:08

It's spelt Jay I think but I am also someone who loves James for a girl. Congratulations.

Frazzled2207 · 04/02/2019 20:15

James or Jay.
I have a boys name for a middle name.
In wales it's fairly normal.

Bumblebeesmum · 04/02/2019 20:18

Jay like the bird
But like others have said, James works really well too. I know someone who’s daughter has James as a middle name.
Alternatively Jamie or even Jamesetta like the real first name of Etta James (biased though as I love her music).

bonniebanks · 04/02/2019 20:26

Another vote just to use James here I think it's really nice sounding

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/02/2019 20:28

I have a boys name as a middle name as well, and I have all but dropped it now. I absolutely hate it.

JenniferJareau · 04/02/2019 20:29

Jay

RandomMess · 04/02/2019 20:30

Jay or James

IggyAce · 04/02/2019 20:33

Jay

Snowdrifthill · 04/02/2019 20:34

Yes, Jay or James, I'm not too sure about Jaye.

Twelve8Ts · 04/02/2019 22:55

James!

Thank you everyone for the replys, we're going with Alyssa Jay. Hadn't thought about the bird association aswell which I like!

I wouldn't use james, as to me that really is a boys name, but you could use jamie? That feels like the girls version of James

MikeUniformMike · 05/02/2019 13:20

Congratulations on the birth of your baby daughter. Alyssa and Jay (spelt this way is much nicer and more fitting) go together nicely.
Sorry about your dad.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 05/02/2019 13:23

I'd totally use James!

MikeUniformMike · 05/02/2019 15:08

James would be fine as a middle name.
Alyssa James Surname.

KiplingAngelCake · 05/02/2019 16:36

James or Jay

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 07/02/2019 01:20

Joyce!

After one of my very favourite authors, Joyce Carol Oates. Smile

Congratulations, btw! Flowers

Joeybee · 07/02/2019 04:19

I feel Jaye looks more feminine, and looks better with her first name.
Congratulations!!!

Buttercupsandaisies · 07/02/2019 06:52

Love James but jay is ok
