They were even naming babies Rachel in the early 1950's. I'm one of them!

Haircutdilemma · 02/02/2019 22:59

I am a Rachel, seeing my name written down so many times made me start questioning if it really is my name.

There is a Rachel in my DD class in junior school.

I like it. Although I get Rach a lot.

Newnameforthispost1 · 02/02/2019 23:24

Haircut I was thinking the exact same thing it's weird seeing your name repeatedGrin

Butterfly84 · 02/02/2019 23:26

It's not my cup of tea but I won't elaborate as looks like you only want opinions on the spelling:

I would spell it Rachel.

Astronica · 03/02/2019 06:31

I think it's a lovely name. I prefer the Rachael spelling - it just looks better to me, but either is okay.

Madeline88 · 03/02/2019 06:32

My cousin is called Rachael, prefer That spelling :)

ZenNudist · 03/02/2019 07:03

I knkw 40 yo x2 and 25yo with this name dsis is Rachael so i prefer that.

nomester · 03/02/2019 12:58

My middle name is Rachael and it sometimes gets mistaken for Raquel 😂😂😂

SlimGin · 03/02/2019 13:42

@Haircutdilemma me too, and before reading this thread I never liked my name but now I'm starting to like it!
I'm 26 and Rachel was a very popular name at my school but seems to have died down

GBroGal · 03/02/2019 14:05

I'm a 1956 Rachel. Very few Rachel's around whilst I was growing up. One day in the supermarket, someone bellowed "Rachel, PUT THAT DOWN". I hurriedly put the chocolate back, then turned round to see a toddler also looking guilty.

Fifthtimelucky · 03/02/2019 16:38

I always used to think of Rachael as the standard spelling, and it's still the version I prefer, but in the last 20 years or so I have only come across Rachels.

I like both.

MollyHuaCha · 03/02/2019 17:49

Lovely name. I like both spellings with a preference for Rachel.

haverhill · 03/02/2019 17:52

I know 3 in their 40s. It’s a good name, feminine and strong.

I’m a Rachael! People spell it wrong all the time and I have to make a point of Rachael “with and A” quite often; I still do think it’s a much nicer spelling though and is the Olde English way.
There is a Rachael/Rachel currently at DS’s primary school

Inaboatwithoutapaddle247 · 05/02/2019 09:44

I like it.
I prefer the Rachel spelling.
I knew a Rachael who always had people getting the "a" and the "e" the wrong way round and writing "Racheal".
It used to drive her mad!
Having said that though there are lots of names that people often confuse which way round the letters go.

tammytoby · 05/02/2019 09:49

I know how to pronounce Rachel.

But how do you pronounce Rachael? Is Ra-chah-el?

NannyR · 05/02/2019 09:52

Both spellings are pronounced exactly the same way.

SlothMama · 05/02/2019 10:07

I'm a 25 yo Rachel and in my year at school there was 6 Rachels, used to drive me mad! And I can't stand it when people spell my name wrong particularly in an email when my name is clearly spelt right above.

I don't mind my name but I wouldn't name my children it
