A name for the twin

Hello everyone. We recently just found out I'm pregnant with twins at an early scan and we already have names for boy/girl Isaac/Emilia and girl/girl Emilia/Ember, but need a name for boy/boy Isaac/??

Have you got any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

@twinkle we don't really use initials here, we either use the whole name or just the first name. No ms or mr either. At least it's incredibly rare. Also our system runs on social security numbers, so each number is unique and connected to everything, whether it's school, hospital, doctor's etc. And everything can be seen online. Mistakes would only happen if they mixed up the two numbers.

Issac/Theo

@Soontobe I know, but they can also create fires. And being a redhead myself, hoping perhaps to have a redheaded daughter I think it would fit perfectly.

I would also try to avoid similar-sounding names and the same initial, especially in bb or gg twins.

Do you speak English in Denmark?
My husband is Danish although we live in UK he is a Jacob but doesn't like how it sounds in English when people try to pronounce it the Danish way (yakub as his parents call him)
When our son was born he was adamant it had to be a name that was pronounced the same in English as in Danish.
I like Mikkel, Lucas, Finn, Thomas

MamaDane · 02/02/2019 20:28

@Smurf I do but only because DP is British (expat)
Yup Jacob is yakub. Isaac for example is ee-sahk not eye-sack. But seeing as how DP will call him Eye-sack and I will call him Ee-sahk he will be used to it from the beginning.
Emilia would also not be eh-mee-lee-a but closer to ee-mee-lee-a.

I'm sure it will be different if they are used to hearing their name 2 ways from the beginning anyway.
We chose a name that is supposed to sound the same in both languages.. Although I still hear a difference when I listen to my husband talk to our son in Danish when he is talking English he pronounces it the same way as me though.
I prefer the Danish pronunciation of Emilia, it was one of our favourites as a girls name 🙂

Bumblebeesmum · 02/02/2019 23:06

I had close friends at school who were twins & they desperately tried to be different with everything from food choices to clothes etc - it’s hard being a young girl without having a twin in the same class with practically the same name.... think it might be cute / twee for the parents just like matching dresses etc but not sure they’ll have the same enjoyment

Marcipex · 02/02/2019 23:29

I would choose different initials.
Emilia and Amber.
Amelia and Ember.

junebirthdaygirl · 02/02/2019 23:33

I know a boy called Ember which l love.
So Isaac and Ember

Whoops75 · 03/02/2019 00:03

For a boy
Stefan
Noah
Sam
Ezra
Xander

Amber is nicer than Ember or maybe
Emer (ee-mer)
Ester

ISmellBabies · 03/02/2019 00:14

So the girls would be Em and Em? Ok then, what about Zac and Zac - Isaac and Zachary?

MamaDane · 03/02/2019 08:17

@Marcipex it doesn't matter about the same initials, Ember is Ehm-ber while Emilia is closer to Ee-mee-lee-a (the Danish e sounds somewhere between a and ee) , so they don't sound like they have the same vowel in their first name. Initials aren't important in Denmark.

@Smurf What did you name your son? If I can ask? 🙂

@ISmellBabies Zachary is probably too difficult to pronounce. Also I don't think we would use a nickname for the girls, at least not Ember as it's such a short name (same with Isaac really). If we did Emilia would probably be Mili or Milla.

Isaac and quinn

starkid · 03/02/2019 10:00

From the suggestions which you've liked so far, my favourites are Alexander and Samuel :)
Congratulations by the way!! Ember is especially lovely.

MamaDane · 03/02/2019 10:04

Thank you, @starkid Grin Those two are also my DP and I's favourites. We're definitely leaning towards Alexander especially.

Thank you, I'm glad someone also loves the name 😍.
