FFS now he tells me

So I thought we were agreement on a girls name for the bump - Juliette.

Now DP has just told me he’s not keen on it because he just thinks it would get shortened to Julie.

I’ve told him he needs to come up with some name suggestions for a possible girl but is he right on the Juliette will just be Julie front?

Obviously I can see why he might think that but all the Juliet / Juliette’s ive ever known have never been called Julie

Haven't read all comments but Julie is not inevitable at all. I'd say more Jules. Also Ettie..I love Juliette x

I’ve known two Juliets, both called Juliet.
I think shortening to Julie is unlikely because it’s a different name, if that makes sense, like Annas don’t get shortened to Anne, and Annabels don’t get shortened to Anna. If it gets shortened, Jules is more probable.

every Juliet I know is called Juliet. Julie is a completely different and separate name.

But much prefer Juliet to Juliette which is just Juliet with added flounce.

I know a Julianne, and she's known only as Julianne so the name being shortened to Julie by others is not a given.
Maybe it depends on where you live?

I know a Julienne and her name is shortened to Julie or Jewels. So it can happen but I think it would be a choice not a natural shortening.

Thank you. I’m glad I’m not the only one who just doesn’t see Julie and Juliette as interchangeable.
He says he doesn’t dislike Juliette, just really doesn’t like Julie and thinks that’s a likely nickname.

We’ll see, I think baby is a boy anyway so might not be an issue.
