I posted before comparing a couple of names. And there was a tie between the names Lara and Hannah.

If you had to pick just one of them, which would you pick?

Lara or Hannah

Thanks in advance

Lara. Dr Zhivago. Hannah sounds too puritan for me.

Villainess · 21/01/2019 11:17

I agree. Hannah and similar names like Martha and Abigail are a bit Scarlet Letter for me. Lara is lovely.

I like Larissa and Lara for short. It sounds exotic and unique. Larissa is a region in Greece

ChoccyBiccyTastic - wonder where you got the association between Hannah and pigs? dum-te-dum - de-dum-te-dum...

Milasmummy · 21/01/2019 15:19

wow looks like Hannah just edges ahead of Lara.
It seems like Hannah is more timeless classic,
whilst Lara is somewhat classic but a bit more modern, but more uncommon.

I feel like Hannah is more english as well, whilst Lara is more european.

Hannah was on our list but we've gone with something else. Do really like it though x

Hannah

The first Hannah I was aware of was the actress Hannah Gordon. Had/has a lovely Scottish accent and a rather serene aspect to her appearance and I guess that was what originally attracted me to the name.

Hannah, though I prefer the single H spelling. Although if you live in a place where H's are dropped as part of the local dialect maybe just cut your losses and H's and go straight for Anna.

I don't like Lara much.

Hanna (without the last h)

Pretty close for me as both good names - if one sounded a lot better with the surname then that would be the winner. Otherwise I pick Hannah.

I don’t think I can pick, like both.

Lara (or Larissa). Hannah is nice too. tbh, they're both a bit bland, but I tend to like bland names.

Crunchymum · 02/03/2019 15:45

Lara

Hannah feels very dated to me, for some reason.

HappyGoGoLucky · 02/03/2019 15:47
