What could Artie be short for?

The name Artie is growing on me but I don’t like how popular Arthur is. What else could it be a shortening of?

Arthur is SO much nicer than Artie! Arthur isn't even longer or harder to pronounce!

Really dislike Artie (Fartie)

DD would have been Arthur shortened to Art. How about Atticus?

Arthur is fairly popular around here (London) but not off-puttingly so.

I work with an Arthur, he calls himself Art. He is in his 60's though. Its cool, he rocks it.

I don't know (about the not being able to pre choose nicknames). My two youngest have longer names with multiple nickname options. They're Margaret and William. Margaret is Maggie about 80% of the time. She's never called Peggie or Margie or Daisy or anything else because we've always said her name is Maggie. William is William/Will at about a 50/50 split. No one calls him Billy or Bill because we say his name is Will or William.

Arturo. Great name in the Louis/Gino vein

Artemis is the name of a Greek goddess. Artemis Fowl is a character in a children's book and is male, but it's a bit perverse to give a boy a name that 99.99% of the time is used for girls (as it would be the other way round, in my view).

Arthur is the obvious name, but if you want to call him Artie just call him that. Arturo is a bit pretentious if you have no Italian blood.

Artis

It is a NN for Arthur.

I work with an Art, full name is Artir. He’s Indian, so it might be an Indian name, not sure, never asked...

I know an Artan. But he doesn't shorten it to Artie.

Thanks all for the input! I think Arthur is probably the only one I’d use. I had it on my list for my second baby but I’ve heard it so much lately, sometimes pronounced ‘Arfur’ and it puts me off. Artie is a cool nickname but not sure it’s finished enough for a full name.

Tammytoby, did you just rhyme Artie with farty then say it’s childish to use a nickname? Hmm
People get so emotional on here don’t they!
