wheneverythinggoestitsup Oh! Then, I'm back to liking it again! So, Thea gets my vote!

Congratulations, btw! Flowers

I have known 3 Theas during my lifetime, and I've only ever heard it pronounced, as it looks Th -ee- ah Hmm

curlies · 12/01/2019 07:39

Its not pronounced Tay-odore in Greek. I have a Greek Theodore (Theodoros) and it's very much a Th sound at the beginning.

Nursiemum27 · 12/01/2019 08:19

Never knew that about the pronounciation of Thea, always known it as Theee-ah.

I love Amber

MumUnderTheMoon · 12/01/2019 08:55

I'd go with Thea as it has that connection to a family member and it's lovely

Gumball54 · 12/01/2019 09:46

Amber. The other two are going to end up with people pronouncing then wrong.

Gumball54 · 12/01/2019 09:47

*them!

ShadyLady53 · 12/01/2019 10:40

@Curlies, I was referring to Ancient Greek, I mentioned Latin alongside it just because those two languages are the root of where our modern languages come from. You’re absolutely right about the th sound in modern Greek and I’ve only heard Thea pronounced Thaya in Greece.

Nonameyet1 · 12/01/2019 11:39

I don’t like Amber but I really want to.

I really like Hallie.

And Thea is a great name - I might be biased!

Nonameyet1 · 12/01/2019 11:41

And everyone calls her Thee ah with no problems so far (she’s 4)

Astronica · 12/01/2019 13:14

I like Amber best of those. Not so keen on Thea or Hallie.

Sooverthemill · 12/01/2019 13:33

Thea. But I would use the Greek pronunciation Tay-a too. Because that's the way the Greek origin person I know says their name. I think it's lovely. I don't like Hallie even though a big fan of parent trap!

Sooverthemill · 12/01/2019 13:34

But also, you can pronounce it how you like! Just tell people how to say it like with other less usual names,

Sooverthemill · 12/01/2019 13:35

shadylady that's interesting. Now trying to think how the Greek aunty says it...

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 12/01/2019 14:28

Not keen on Hallie at all. Amber is ok, Thea is lovely.

Laurasimone · 12/01/2019 19:30

Love Thea -the way op is pronouncing it.

wheneverythinggoestitsup · 12/01/2019 21:24

@Sooverthemill

Haha! Exactly where I got the name from Grin
