What do you think to Lydia? It’s the only name that I’ve suggested that DH likes. TIA xx

Santababyclaus · 05/01/2019 13:59

Lydia is beautiful

thethoughtfox · 05/01/2019 14:01

Teapot. They will called Teapot.

Lavender00 · 05/01/2019 14:02

Apparently Lydia was on the list for me when my parents were expecting and my dad always joked that he helped me dodge a bullet there.... Lydia dustbin

Cazastrophe · 05/01/2019 14:04

Don’t. My friend is called Lydia and since school gets called Lydia Chlamydia. Even now at nearly 40, she gets called it! Go for something similar instead.

CarrieBlu · 05/01/2019 14:07

I love Lydia, I think it’s a beautiful name. But as it rhymes with chlamydia, I wouldn’t use it as other children can be really cruel with names at school.

CathyBigBalls · 05/01/2019 14:20

My sister is called Lydia, she’s also never been called Chlamydia.

E20mom · 05/01/2019 14:28

I love it. I had it on my list.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 05/01/2019 15:22

I love it, it was at the top of my list for DD but unfortunately DH wasn't keen 😞

Crissy83 · 05/01/2019 15:29

Never seen Lyvia, but Livia is a 'real' Italian name

TheRedFox · 05/01/2019 15:38

Love it. Only ever know one (now an adult) who has never had any horrid nicknames.

LittleKitty1985 · 05/01/2019 15:47

My mum wanted to call me Lydia but my dad put her off by suggesting kids would call me "Lydia Dustbin" (lid of your dustbin) Hmm

ArtisanPopcorn · 05/01/2019 15:50

My first thoughts are Aunt Lydia, tearaway Lydia from Pride and Prejudice and a towie character. But everyone else seems to like it so probably best to ignore me!

DreamsofJacaranda · 05/01/2019 16:06

A lovely name.

Are the posters who say they immediately think «chlamydia» twelve years old? Hmm

Mummytoboyxx · 05/01/2019 16:19

Thanks everyone for your responses Smile

I love the name but it does make me think immediately of two people, Lydia (Winona Ryder) from Beetlejuice and "Aunt Lydia" from Handmaid's take. But that's just me and where my brain goes.

GreenTulips · 05/01/2019 17:26

I think of Kermit the Frog singing Lydia O Lydia, Oh have you met Lydia

BonBonVoyage · 05/01/2019 17:27

I love it

florascotia2 · 05/01/2019 17:28

I like Lydia. As previous posters have said, Livia (not Lyvia) is an Italian name. It's been around for 2000 years and more - it was the name of the wife of the ancient Roman emperor Augustus.

Roman naming systems were quite complicated, but women were often given a feminine form of their father's family/clan name en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naming_conventions_for_women_in_ancient_Rome
Livia was the daughter of the splendidly named Marcus Livius Drusus Claudianus.
