I'm not pregnant, but DH and I have been talking about children more recently. DH asked if they could suggest a boy's name, and I said sure.

PARSONS. The name was fucking PARSONS.

It's not even a family surname. I despair! Why? I thought we would have similar taste or at least DH would have SOME taste

What are the worst names your DH/DP/other family members or friends have suggested to you?

LeBron, LaSquisha, Adolf.

My dh Envy

ForAMinuteThere · 03/01/2019 20:58

@silverllama I like the sound of your partner Grin my cult name was vetoed too! (Mainly as baby was the wrong gender though and it didn't work both ways!)

alfiesmam · 03/01/2019 21:04

Bernadette Confused

Theyhaveallbeenused2 · 03/01/2019 21:07

Sherlock..although it goes really well with his surname

RebeccaWrongDaily · 03/01/2019 21:09

Kim :(

bagelfiend · 03/01/2019 21:19

I've got a Douglas Grin
I love that it's unusual!

Hubby wanted Sidney....

Jozen · 03/01/2019 21:24

DH suggested Maverick when I was pregnant with the second.
I said there may be two in there and we'll call the other one Goose.

lanbro · 03/01/2019 21:29

My GF apparently suggested Blodwyn for me, dodged a bullet there!

DulciUke · 03/01/2019 21:35

When my husband had his first daughter with his ex wife (38 years ago to be precise), he wanted to call her 'Whanita'. (not sure on correct spelling).

It's Juanita (Had a great aunt with that name.)

Brokenanother1 · 03/01/2019 21:45

Dp really wanted aurora. Not his worse suggestion but didn't want dd named after a Disney Princess.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 03/01/2019 21:49

DP name-Junior....sod that
Thankfully was a girl so I didn’t have to argue that, I didn’t push for Onlyfoolsnmothers-junior Grin

ChubRubTheStruggleIsReal · 03/01/2019 21:55

Dsil to this day hasn’t met my dd. Spoke to her once when pregnant when she said I should call the baby Sue Ling or Su-Ling.
We are white British but she didn’t see how it would be an unusual choice for us.

nomester · 03/01/2019 22:05

Melody & Junior my dearest fiancé suggested...
Yeah he's been told where to go with his suggestions...
No offense to anyone called the above names... 🙈

pisspawpatrol · 03/01/2019 22:12

My idiot ex wanted to call hypothetical twin girls Ebony and Ivory or Ocean and River. I wish I was fucking kidding, but he's an absolute dick.

YahBasic · 03/01/2019 22:15

When SIL was pregnant, our MIL suggested BIL’s ex girlfriend’s name.

Apparently she completely forgot where she had heard this “really unusual” —madeup— name Grin

kalefire · 03/01/2019 22:22

I quite like Kim (Kimberley) and Aurora.

Ex-DP wanted to name DS Sizzla (after the reggae artist. Gulp.

christmasisuponus · 03/01/2019 22:24

Ds wanted to call his db Bob after his friend's ddog!!

My son is called Bob, short for Robert. I love the name and it suits him. There are a few Bobs in DS class/school.

90percentvodka10percenthuman · 03/01/2019 22:25

Ex dp wanted to call ds Cody or Kai. For balance I wanted to call him Edward...

Dh’s choice of names has ensured we won’t be having any more children

Santaisfastasleepatlast · 03/01/2019 22:27

Nowt wrong with the name but telling a dc his namesake is a spaniel ain't a good look imo!!
I had a great uncle Bob!!
Fab man who bought himself a mini Cooper for his 80 th birthday!!

Bishalisha · 03/01/2019 22:27

I have a Kimberley Blush (toddler)

I also suspect the ‘dog name’ is my son’s name too Grin

FuzzyShadowChatter · 03/01/2019 22:43

My mother kept suggested the middle name she gave me. It also happens to be my SIL's first name. She also suggested the middle name she would have given me if I was male (a story and name I heard what felt like hundreds of times as a child).

Those were the only two names she suggested and at times she was very adamant and dismissive of anything else. They're pretty nice, normal names which is why I'm not listing them - the names aren't the worst - but they were pretty much the worst names that could have been suggested to me. I struggle to figure out what she was thinking.

Honeybee79 · 03/01/2019 22:48

Dh loves Irene.

Shadow1234 · 04/01/2019 02:16

'DulciUke ' - thanks for the correction on spelling. (no offence meant to your aunt or anyone else with that name), was just so different to the other names of that era and really stood out.
