I'm all about traditional names (Harriet, Florence, Alice etc) but i've fallen in love with Evelina, I just know know if it classic enough?

What are your opinions?

It’s a major children’s hospital and growing so I wouldn’t personally (however my dd died in the Evelina which perhaps colours my view of the name)

StealthPolarBear · 23/12/2018 17:41

My first thought was the children's hospital and I live in the north East of England .
That said its a lovely name

StealthPolarBear · 23/12/2018 17:41

Didn't read to the end of that before posting. I am so sorry x

ZebraKid71 · 23/12/2018 17:53

I wouldn't say it was a classic name, does it need to be if you like it?

MikeUniformMike · 23/12/2018 18:06

I think it sounds like a diet pill.

thesnapandfartisinfallible · 23/12/2018 18:10

I like it. I know an Ewelina and she is lovely so perhaps biased but I think it's timeless.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 23/12/2018 18:24

I don't see it as a classic. Personally I don't like it sorry.

E20mom · 23/12/2018 18:28

My first thought is the hospital for sick children.

JaiNotJay · 23/12/2018 18:35

Is it considered classic? I've never heard the name before.

daisypond · 23/12/2018 18:36

I think of the hospital too - which of course was named after somebody. But I don't think it's a particularly classic name. I've never heard of it in relation to anybody else.

Fannyfanakerpants · 23/12/2018 18:54

I know an Evangeline which is similar and beautiful.

slappinthebass · 23/12/2018 19:08

Never heard of it. Sounds made up. What about Evangelina/Evangeline instead?

BroomstickOfLove · 23/12/2018 19:11

It makes me think of the novel by Fanny Burney, so certainly a classic name, but not really traditional.

Redskyandrainbows67 · 23/12/2018 19:11

I think of the hospital

I would go Evelyn - classic and not a children’s hospital

teacuptale · 23/12/2018 19:14

I have an ancestor called Evelina from the 1800s. I think it’s a lovely name. Just bear in mind that it may be shortened to Eve/Evie etc. Lovely nicknames, but also very popular, which may or may not matter to you.

Picknickers · 23/12/2018 23:40

Makes me think Evil Ena but that may just be me.

TigerQuoll · 24/12/2018 00:56

I don't live in the UK so don't know about the hospital but I think it sounds made up. Like you mixed together Evelyn and Angelina.

Eve, Eva, Ava, Evelyn, Angelina, Evangeline, Annalise, Elouise, Ella, Angelica, Sabrina, Regina, Emmeline, Katrina, Josephina, Josephine, Alexandra, Carina, Rowena, Lavinia all have similar sounds and could be alternatives

DramaAlpaca · 24/12/2018 00:58

I wouldn't call it a classic, but if you like it that's what matters.

DorothyBastard · 24/12/2018 01:38

Another one here who thinks of the hospital

SquirmOfEels · 24/12/2018 02:35

I think of the hospital, as would many Londoners I expect.

I doubt that association would be as strong away from the SE.

Racecardriver · 24/12/2018 02:43

Evalina has been around since the Georgian era. About as classic as it gets. It’s the title of one of by favourite novels actually. It’s a great book. Evalina by Frances Burney

Racecardriver · 24/12/2018 02:43

Never heard of the hospital but if you live near it it may be an unpleasant association for some.

ladybirdsaredotty · 24/12/2018 06:08

I instantly thought of the hospital too, although I work with children who use its services. I do think many people will think of the hospital to be honest, and they might not be a positive association.

Disillusioned I'm so sorry Flowers

ladybirdsaredotty · 24/12/2018 06:09

That might not be a positive association

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/12/2018 06:10

Ewalina is a 60something Polish woman.
