What do you think of Jackson? We’re struggling for boys names!

Don't like it. Feels more surname or too American.

I know of a few and really like it, some spelt Jaxson and some Jackson, I personally prefer the spelling Jaxson but think it's a nice name :)

Unless you are in the part of the US where it’s common to use last names of grandparents as first names - don’t.
In the desire to be unique - you’ll saddle your boy with a name kids will make fun of and adults would go 😳....

If you like Jack - just call him that.

I actually saw it in the UK top 100 for boys for 2017 at no 74 and the Jaxon spelling is 52 so it must be quite popular in the UK. I would say the majority of names I gravitate towards are a bit more traditional. I quite like it but maybe it is a bit too trendy

It's not that unusual. We used it as a middle name as it was a grandparents surname, we're not American. There's at least 2 others I know ages are 14-4, so it's been around a while. We used traditional spelling. I wouldn't have used an X personally

Jack is lovely, Jackson is OK, Jaxon is not either of these.

Not my choice of name but don't think there's anything wrong with those types it would be a boring world if we all liked the same I put it in the same category as Drummond and Harrison

I love it and it would have been the choice for our second if we'd had a boy. Mumsnet seems to hate it but don't let it put you off 😃

No, it's a surname 'Jack's son'. Like a pp said, if you like Jack, name him Jack.

Jaxon is made up and chavvy. And the even worse 'Jaxson' is ridiculous (the 'x' already makes the sound of 'k' and 's' , so the 's' is completely redundant.)

Jack is a good name.

Jackson makes me think of Michael Jackson and he is not a good association to have regarding children. So for that reason, no.

I love it! A little boy in the toddler class we go to is called Jaxson, they call him Jax for short. We would have it if we had another boy, but our DS has a 'Son name so we can't use it, we'd look so unimaginative!

At the moment it makes me think of Jack (short for Jackson) in A Star Is Born. if that wasn't actually your influence, I bet a lot of people will assume it is. Having said that, I don't actually like the name Jack all that much (too hard and spiky sounding) and find Jackson marginally softer and gentler sounding, but it's still not really my thing, sorry.

Every second boy where i live seems to be called this. Jackson is bad, Jaxon is worse, and Jaxson puts my teeth on edge - you dont need the s with the x! Im not against surnames as first names but this one is just too over-used.

At least use Jackson if you really have to. The x is awful!
