Girls names with surname Marlow

Hi everyone :)

My first baby girl due in Feb and my DP and I can't seem to come to a decision on any names. Why is it so hard!?

We've found a few which we mutually like but I'm unsure that they work well with the baby's surname which will be Marlow. Would really welcome anyone's suggestions on pretty names that flow well with the surname!

Shortlist:

Myla
Piper
Lila

Thank you xx

I don't like the sound of any Myla or Lila with Marlow at all. Piper sounds better but I'm not sure if it as a name.

Doyoumind · 01/12/2018 10:46

*of it

Doyoumind · 01/12/2018 10:47

What about Katie/Kit.

BillywigSting · 01/12/2018 10:48

I'm not keen on myla, but I don't particularly like alliteration in names, always sounds very comic book character to me.

Piper is nice.

I like Eliza too

MartaHallard · 01/12/2018 10:52

I agree with Doyoumind. I don't think any of those three really goes with Marlow. With a different surname, I'd like Myla or Lila.

Will I be first in, or will someone beat me to it suggesting
Karen
Rowan
Ann
Virginia
Nicola
Lawrence
to go with Marlow? (Yes, Lawrence is a girl.)

IrenetheQuaint · 01/12/2018 10:57

LOL Marta - I was about to post the same thing!

Rowan is probably the best of those names for 2018 use.

Hmm not sure of these names..Don't think they sound right with your surname..Will your little one be having a middle name? Congratulations by the way!

So many of my choices have been rubbed off of the list by DP!

My original favourites were Penelope, Daphne, Olive, Esme, Heidi, Arianna, Anastasia... but all are a no.

DP loves Olivia - I also really like Olivia but worried about how common it is and it's predicted to be the top girls name of 2018.
DP also loves Marcella (mar-chella) however 1. Reminds me of the BBC drama and 2. Worried people will pronounce it wrong (mar-cella)

I quite like:

Isabella
Arabella
Marnie (not sure with surname!)

Thanks everyone xxx

@Sunisshining5346 baby will undoubtedly have a middle name, more than likely Stella after a family member :) and thank you!!

Olive is so cute!!
Amelia
Elodie
Evie
Ivy

One of my top names was Marnie but my surname begins with M also..supposedly a golden rule for baby naming is not to have the first letters of both names the same..it should be a different letter?

ernjas · 01/12/2018 11:45

Arabella Marlow is cute!

What about...
Aurora
Cora
Evelyn
Georgia/Georgie
Ivy
Julia/Juliet
Nora
Penny

Astronica · 01/12/2018 12:34

Myla, Lila and Marnie don't work with Marlow so I'd cross those off first.

I like Piper and think it works fine. Isabella and Arabella work, but Isabella seems over-used. Arabella would be a good choice but not with middle name Stella. What a pity about Penelope, Daphne and Esme as they all work well with Stella and Marlow.

Anwen Stella
Amity Stella
Edith Stella
Bryony Stella
Romilly Stella
Imogen Stella
Lilian Stella
Maggie Stella
Ivy Stella
Annie Stella

What about Harlow Marlow? Smile Just kidding. We always look at the meaning of the name and surname. Emma for example means universal and my surname is that of a royal family so it could be infered my name means Universal royalty?! Confused

Go with a name you like the sound of, is easy to say and your child won't get picked on for when at school. Lila Marlow sounds nice.Smile

How about Margot. Marla or Meghan?
