Just that really

Margot is becoming really popular. It’s nicer than Jenna though.

MrsLettuce · 29/11/2018 20:17

Jenna is quite nice but it's not done any favours at all by sounding identical to the surname of That family. Genevieve is fabulous, could you do anything with that?

I love Margot with the emphasis on the O but I dislike other pronunciations.

MollyHuaCha · 29/11/2018 20:21

Margot

Winterwonderland12 · 29/11/2018 20:33

Margot is a middle aged German who pronounces it Margott. It's not very feminine at all, sorry.

TatianaLarina · 29/11/2018 20:42

As it’s a French name the German pronunciation is irrelevant.

Sophronia · 29/11/2018 21:42

Jenna. Margot is very ‘now’.

PhoenixBuchanan · 29/11/2018 21:47

Jenna is really dated. How about Jessa?

Margot is popular but I like it.

eggncress · 29/11/2018 21:51

Margot for sure

n0ne · 29/11/2018 22:09

Love Margot. Jenna is dated and meh.

AwakeNow · 29/11/2018 22:43

I would say, out of those two choices Jenna.

Winterwonderland12 · 30/11/2018 08:09

Even if Margot is originally French (actually Greek), it is still a commonly used German name pronounced Margott. Just making the op aware of it.

TatianaLarina · 30/11/2018 09:28

It’s the original name Margaret/Marguerite that derives from Greek via Latin.

Margot is the French diminutive, pronounced Margo in France and in the U.K. The German version isn’t relevant unless OP plans to live there.

Winterwonderland12 · 30/11/2018 11:44

Do we know where our kids might study or work one day?

TatianaLarina · 30/11/2018 11:54

If DD did go and work in Germany she would still be Margo, just as a French Louis would be pronounced Loo ee not Lewis.

It’s absurd to worry about what someone might be called in Peru.

17caterpillars1mouse · 30/11/2018 12:48

Jenna is lovely and underused

Not keen on Margot

brodiee · 30/11/2018 13:21

Jenna. Love Margot too but it's more popular

pinkskys · 30/11/2018 15:29

Jenna is great to spell phonetically when they get to school and learning to spell their name. Also can work with many personalities and professions.

However they may be faced with having to correct constantly that their name isn't Jemma.

Margot sounds a bit poncy really

RedDwarves · 30/11/2018 20:49

I really like Jenna.

Don't like Margot at all. Too maggoty.

Joanne721 · 30/11/2018 22:07

I love Margot.Jenna reminds me of DD2`s old school friend who was rude, sat glued to her mobile phone and ate chicken and stuffing sandwiches, urrgh!

Pixie2015 · 30/11/2018 22:12

Never thought about Margot before but I love it as reminds me of the Good Life - also really like Jenna too x

AntiHop · 30/11/2018 22:12

Definitely not jenna. Agree with pps that it's dated.

StoneRoses4Ever · 30/11/2018 23:16

I choose Margot

Jenna to me, first and foremost, is the name of an American pornstar (Jenna Jameson). Secondly, it seems to me to be a made up version of Jenny/Jennifer in the way that names from USA often seem to be adapted/made up (from ABCDE to Heaven backwards spelled Nevaeh, for example).

That is just my experience/opinion and you should choose what you like. For me Margot is an actual name, known for a long time and familiar to most.

StoneRoses4Ever · 30/11/2018 23:18

Ps I think Jenny/Jennifer is a lovely name!

eachtigertires · 01/12/2018 03:27

I definitely prefer Jenna. Margot isn’t terrible either but it reminds me of “The Good Life”.

ViragoKnows · 01/12/2018 03:38

Margot by a country mile. I also like the Margaux spelling.

Jenna... I have nothing nice to say.
