ive been watching baby name videos on youtube and pretty much the only boys name that has stuck is percy, which I always thought I didnt like until SJ Strum suggested it (her channel is amazing btw). im only 15 weeks so i dont know what im having yet and i havent suggested it to my partner but i was wondering what people thought of it and also middle name suggestions.
My partner likes very traditional names, and has suggested Isabelle if we have a little girl and thats the only name we can agree on but im still a bit not sure. He also wants a double middle name if possible. Any suggestions and opinions welcome I really dont know what i think of Percy or what would go with it.

I don't know. I mean there's no getting away from the fact that it'd be adorable on a baby and little boy.
However I don't think a 15 year old would thank you for calling him Percy, if I'm honest.
MN suggestions if you do decide to go with it.
Percy Oliver.
Percy Alexander
Percy Francis
Percy James

I really like Percy. If you want to go traditional you could use Percival on the birth certificate.

Kylieemilyj · 12/11/2018 17:55

it really is a passing idea to be fair. The more i think about it the more i think, it would be a weird name to use but its kind of stuck still. i love percy james though

No don't do it. "To point Percy at the porcelain" means to point a penis at the toilet bowl.

HopeGarden · 12/11/2018 18:05

I do quite like Percy, but the “point Percy at the porcelain” thing is off putting.

Kylieemilyj · 12/11/2018 18:06

@stellarfox I love it and i think my partner would too, i dont like Percival though.

@MrsMoastyToasty thats true, and I keep thinking about the fact my dogs penis was nicknamed percy which puts me off a little but for some reason its sticking. I think I might suggest it to my partner when he gets home and see what he thinks. We have 24 weeks to go so knowing us we will change the name about 20 times before then anyway.

I thought it was really unusual, but I know two a similar age where I live. Wasn't helped by the mum if one of them shouting it at every opportunity and going on about how rare a name it is. I never wanted to hear the name again after that.

Singlenotsingle · 12/11/2018 18:27

Mrsmoasty you beat me to it! That child would be bullied mercilessly at school.

Kylieemilyj · 12/11/2018 19:07

so turns out my partner hates it anyway! greatt..

All I can think of is Percy pigs from M&S Grin

VictoriaBun · 12/11/2018 19:08

Percy is really a shortened name for Percival.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/11/2018 19:10

I've never known anyone to be teased or bullied about their name. I think especially now anything goes.
I honestly believe in the next 10-15 years give or take names won't even have a gender and There will be lots of girls running around called Thomas and boys called Rosie.
I mean James is already very very slowly creeping up and Robin which was originally a boys name is now far more popular for girls than for boys.
So I'm not sure Percy have too much trouble.

Ohyesiam · 12/11/2018 19:11

It means breast in Slovenian apparently

villainousbroodmare · 12/11/2018 19:11

It's awful, in my opinion, the worst name I could think of.

TheRealMummyPig · 12/11/2018 20:29

I love it and am considering it for our baby, due next year. Does anyone really say 'pointing Percy at the porcelain' anymore?! Plenty of boys names have alternative connotations, E.g Willy, Johnny.
Yet those remain classic.

DramaAlpaca · 12/11/2018 20:30

I agree with villainous.

RavenWings · 12/11/2018 20:46

I think it's a hilariously wet, meek name. Wetter than a thunderstorm sandwich. One of those stereotypical private school boys names.

LarkDescending · 12/11/2018 20:54

my dogs penis was nicknamed percy which puts me off a little

Not being a dog owner I had no idea this was a thing Grin

RedDwarves · 13/11/2018 07:40

Percy's awful even without the penis connotation.

HRTpatch · 13/11/2018 07:42

Bloody awful. Like Cuthy ( short for Cuthbert)
