Baby brother for Alice

Militarymumj · 10/11/2018 05:59

We have a 19 month old daughter Alice Louise and are due a baby boy in just a few weeks. We have really struggled with choosing and agreeing on names but shortlisted it to Theo or Archie with Christopher as a middle name. We have both favoured Theo for the last few weeks and my husband is adamant this is his absolute favourite but I am swaying towards Archie because I think it sounds better with Alice. I do love the name Theo but there's just a little part of me.
We've agreed to wait until he's here but I don't think my husband will change his mind either
Does anyone have any opinions?

I love Theo although would probably put Theodore on the birth certificate. Archie and Alice is a bit cutesie.

Definitely Theodore! He could also be Teddy as a nickname which is super cute 😀

Theo. It is only as a child and within the family that his name will be bracketed with Alice. So for roughly 75% of his life his name will be totally independent of hers. Choose the name you like for him.

Theo

mossyroundhill · 10/11/2018 07:24

I actually prefer Christopher, very classic and matches Alice beautifully.

Archie and Theodore are so popular they don't seem to have any meaning anymore, and Theo always makes me think of a very loud mum I know who, when bellowing her sons name, pronounces it "Feeeo". Not a fan.

lebkuchenlover · 10/11/2018 07:28

I agree-Christopher is lovely.

Theo and Archie are dull and overused in comparison.

SallyWD · 10/11/2018 08:02

I think Theo sounds better with Alice

Theo is an amazing name. Cute on a little boy and grown up and serious enough on an adult.

I’m normally a full name on the BC person but I actually prefer Theo to Theodore (also by not having Theodore you avoid Teddy).

I’m not an Archie fan sorry. I see Archie as the same as Alfie, both very faddy 00s names.

Thanks everyone. Actually given me a bit of an alternative perspective on it so much appreciated! I prefer Theo puely so he doesn't have to learn to write Theodore at school 😂 My brother is christopher and hubbys middle name is Christopher which is why we chose it as a middle not a first name. If we chose Theo he will also have the same initials as his Daddy which is cute!

My friend has an Alice who has two little brothers named Andrew and Shane in that order. I think I prefer Christopher of your two choices.

daisypond · 10/11/2018 10:21

Theo definitely.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 10/11/2018 12:29

I find Theo a bit bland sorry. I would put Alice with Henry, James, Edward or Benedict.

Devillanelle · 10/11/2018 13:35

Surely Alice's brother is Matthew!

LarkDescending · 10/11/2018 16:43

Surely Alice’s brother is Rory!

But of your choices I like Theo Christopher.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 10/11/2018 16:47

Anna's brother is Rory Grin

DramaAlpaca · 10/11/2018 16:48

Of the two, Theo is much better with Alice.

Alice & Archie doesn't sound right - one is classic & the other is cutesy.

NoUnicornsToSeeHere · 10/11/2018 16:50

Assuming he’ll have the same surname as his dad, do you want 18 years + of post coming to your address which could go to either father or son? It doesn’t matter much in the early years but later on it may do...

MerryInthechelseahotel · 10/11/2018 16:54

I know an Alice and Johnny. That sounds really good I think!
