Is Camille not a girl's name? It sounds very feminine to an English-speaking ear. I love Marcel.

InfantaSybilla · 02/11/2018 14:31

Camille is a girls name, did you mean Carmine?

I prefer Marcel

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 02/11/2018 14:32

There's a danger of 'Henry ate a meal' with one of those combos.

MiniMaxi · 02/11/2018 14:34

I like Emile

Camille is def a girls’ name as far as I’m aware!

GlitterGlass · 02/11/2018 14:36

Camille is definitely masculine as well.
As in Camille Saint-Saëns or Pissaro or Lacourt.

I hadn't noticed that, Face Blush

I have heard of Camille for a boy in French, but it might sound a bit girly in the UK. I like Emile.

wildewillow · 02/11/2018 14:40

Camille is used for both boys and girls in France.

I like Émile from your list best op. I wouldn't use Camille if you are uk based but I do think it's lovely.

IceRebel · 02/11/2018 14:40

Out of the 3 Marcel, but I don't think any of them sound quite right.

I picture Henriette's brother as a Frederick

Sophronia · 02/11/2018 14:54

I like Camille best

InfantaSybilla · 02/11/2018 15:37

Camille is used for both boys and girls in France.

I never realised this. The only Camille I know is French so I assumed it was only used as a girls name. However, I still think it's quite feminine to use for a boy in this country.

youarenotkiddingme · 02/11/2018 15:40

Oh I like Fredrick as suggested by previous poster.

Don't like Camille for a Male. Marcel is ok but reminds me of the lad from love island! Emile is nice but pointed out together they can be dodgy!

I also like Tomás with it

Shadow1234 · 02/11/2018 15:56

Emile

ladycarlotta · 02/11/2018 18:07

If you live in the UK, I think Camille is far too much of a girl's name here to work out well for a boy. I vote for Emile, which has the same sort of sound and is lovely.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 02/11/2018 18:15

I prefer to Henrietta to Henriette but assume you are French and therefore want to stick with the French version?

Marcel gets my vote

I also like Emile but the 'Henry ate a meal' thing would put me off

Icklepup · 02/11/2018 22:27

Marcel

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 02/11/2018 22:30

Actually when I saw the title, before I read the first post, I thought Henriette and Georges (OK, I did think George but I can translate). I do like Marcel a lot though, it's crisp but sophisticated.

PodgeBod · 02/11/2018 22:34

I vote for Fredrick.
I've only known one Camille who was a girl. Might be a hard name for a boy to grow up with in the UK.

PodgeBod · 02/11/2018 22:35

Of your names, Marcel.

BillywigSting · 02/11/2018 22:39

Jean Luc or René

Labradoodliedoodoo · 02/11/2018 22:44

Albert
Claude
philippe
Frances
Gabriel
Auguste
Remy
Xavier
Angelo

AuntieStella · 02/11/2018 22:48

Of your list, Emile. Though if resident in UK I prefer the spelling Emil, but that might be too Germanic for you

From the thread title, the name that popped into mind was Louis

Polkasq · 02/11/2018 22:59

Marcel

ReginaPhalange89 · 03/11/2018 04:57

They all sound very feminine to me, I definitely wouldn't use Camille if you're in the UK I think 95% of people would assume he was a girl .
Of the 3 I think Marcel..... But I'm not keen on any sorry

rainbowquack · 03/11/2018 05:33

I live in a French speaking part of the world and there are no male Camille's here. But for females it is very popular.

Names of those around us off the top of my head.

Martial, Melvil, Enzo, Néo, Sascha, Tomas, Matteo, Hugo, Arthur, Bastien, Joachim, Rafael, Loris.
