Which one? We have a short surname which puts me off Skye a bit but I love it.
We honeymooned in the Isle of Skye so it has extra special meaning.
Already have a DS Rory.

Erin

Shadow1234 · 28/10/2018 16:16

I really love both - hard to choose, but because of the special connection (honeymoon), I personally would go with Skye.

Aprilislonggone · 28/10/2018 16:17

Depends how your area pronounces Erin. Our neighbours had Urin!!
Beware Skye /Paw Patrol connection although I love it!

Tinlegs · 28/10/2018 16:19

Can see Skye out of my window so would fund the name rather silly if your daughter ends up in Scotland. Bit like a girl I knew called Arundel.

Much prefer Erin but it is hugely popular. Of 60 girls at my school 4 are called Erin.

EloisaJane · 28/10/2018 16:25

Thanks for all the comments, all very useful. I haven't met a single Erin yet and was surprised to see it fairly high up the charts.
We actually like the spelling and pronunciation Aerin (started another thread) but wanted to gauge responses to the name rather than the spelling.
I love Erin Skye and I think I can get past the air and sky thing, would blatantly end up calling her Erinsky Grin

Don’t like Erin. like Skye. Prefer Iona.

Notso · 28/10/2018 16:30

I really like Erin.
Skye I find a bit meh but then if it's personal to you that changes things. I think it's better suited to a middle name. Also Erinsky is brilliant as a nn!

Mayhemmumma · 28/10/2018 16:37

I love both! Erin and Skye as a middle ne would be my choice (unless surname starts with an S)

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/10/2018 16:40

Skye.

Labradoodliedoodoo · 28/10/2018 16:44

Serren

I think it’s eapecially popular in Scotland.

RuthW · 28/10/2018 18:14

I prefer Skye but if you are concerned about popularity where I work we have had no Erins for about ten years but about three Skyes in the last few months.

Tinlegs · 28/10/2018 19:13

Not in this bit of Scotland.

I think here it would be a bit like calling your child Dartford because you live in Essex.

Not saying that it would be OK as a choice but it is a large place and very well known so I would not choose it as a name.

chocolatefoxes · 29/10/2018 00:53

Skye is a beautiful name

moredoll · 29/10/2018 04:01

Skye. Or Iona. Not keen on Erin

Jasperoonicle · 29/10/2018 04:33

Erin from me. We have two in our family, one here in ireland and the other in the states. I have personal reasons for disliking the name skye.

FairfaxAikman · 29/10/2018 05:06

Erin is by far the most common here.
I'd go for Skye as it's a nice story to tell when people ask you about the name - DS is named after the town we got married in. It's not an overly unusual name but we get a lot of nice comments on the fact.

AdventuringThroughLife · 29/10/2018 05:19

Absolutely Erin.

Sungura · 29/10/2018 06:51

Erin because not only is it pretty, it will grow with her. Skye is equally pretty, but flighty;it's not a name you'd expect from a banker or doctor or architect. It's like the name of a fairy princess.

LongDiscoClara · 29/10/2018 07:25

Skye.

LongDiscoClara · 29/10/2018 07:27

I know 6 Erin's under 6.

EloisaJane · 29/10/2018 07:45

Longdisco - do you mind me asking where abouts you live? That is a lot of Erins!

I know a Lexi-Skyla and there's 3 Erin's at my daughters pre-school!

I always think of paw patrol when I hear Skye tho!

starkid · 29/10/2018 12:54
